This role involves the design of a wide range of tools in alignment with standard tool configurations, including cutting and forming tools. The engineer interprets drawings and specifications, collaborating with manufacturing personnel to determine optimal solutions. Responsibilities include performing detailed calculations to define exact dimensions, selecting appropriate materials, and estimating costs. Additionally, the Manufacturing Engineer partners with engineering and production teams to identify and resolve performance issues or tool life concerns, recommending modifications or enhancements to improve overall production effectiveness.\nWhat You'll Do:\nTroubleshoot new or existing production problems involving designs, materials, or processes. \nIdentify opportunities or implement changes to improve manufacturing processes or products or to reduce costs, using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts.\nApply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness. \nProvide technical expertise or support related to manufacturing.\nWork with suppliers to help ensure successful completion of manufacturing projects.\nDesign tooling for metal tube forming using provided computer programs.\nReview current tooling specifications and suggest improvements.\nInteraction with manufacturing, maintenance, tool vendors, quality and other department supervisors or managers to solve and correct existing and expected manufacturing problems.\nTrain other tooling employees as necessary.\nUnderstand and implement change control and inventory management as necessary\nInvestigate sources of non-conforming materials.\n\nOther\nAttends meetings as required and/or assigned.\nPerforms other duties as required and/or assigned.\nCommunicates and gives input regarding performance evaluations.\nSpecial Job Dimensions\nSome travel will be required.\nWhat We're Looking For:\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities\nKnowledge of Mechanical Engineering and Technology\nKnowledge of Practical application of Engineering principles/ techniques/ procedures to tool design and Cold Forming Operations and Automation Processing\nKnowledge of Design techniques (GD&T), Tools, and Principles involved in developing precise technical plans, Models, Drawings and Blueprints\nKnowledge of SAP (or other ERP system)\nKnowledge of Advanced Mathematics and applications\nKnowledge of CAD software including CATIA, Solid Works 2015, AutoCAD\nKnowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Smart Sheet, and SAP preferred\nKnowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing effective manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S and Six Sigma training tools\nKnowledge of quality control and testing procedures\nKnowledge of secondary processes \nExcellent verbal and written communication skills\nAbility to effectively communicate with personnel at all levels of the organization\nAbility to work well under deadlines, and ability to work well with a cross-functional team to accomplish results \nAbility to perform with superior service, reflecting a positive company image while sustaining a positive attitude with those you interact with; always going above and beyond to help others out, regardless of their position or department\nAbility to adhere to the highest standards of quality while continually performing at the highest possible level\nEducation, Certification/License & Work Experience\nB.S.
