At Rakuten Viki, we offer a chance to be part of a global community that celebrates culture, creativity, and connection.\nBased in Singapore, this role will report to the Engineering Manager.\nKey Responsibilities:\nAdvancing the data platform's architecture and capabilities to better support Viki's evolving business needs.\n\nTranslating the pipelines into reusable and scalable data pipelines and frameworks for ingestion, processing, storage and consumption\n\nPerform root cause analysis on internal and external data systems to answer specific business questions\n\nImproving and maintaining the existing application & workflows’ correctness, performance, SLAs and architecture’s integrity\n\nUpholding adherence to the right data engineering practices while building the data systems and pipelines, such as writing clean, efficient code, proper automation testing, CI / CD, logging, monitoring and alerting\n\nParticipate in code reviews and ensuring high standards of code quality, in addition to ensuring that development guidelines are followed\n\nRequirements:\nStrong foundation in core Computer Science concepts and software architecture principles\n\nBachelors or Masters in Computer Science or a related field\n\n1-4 years of experience in Data/Backend/SRE/Platform Engineering\n\nStrong proficiency in core software engineering fundamentals, including Data Structures, Algorithms, and System Design\n\nAbility to write production-quality, maintainable, clean, and testable code beyond basic scripting\n\nFresh graduates are also encouraged to apply and will be considered\n\nGood communication skills and are able to explain technical concepts, thoughts, ideas or issues to the other members of the team\n\nA self-starter and self-driven attitude with an appetite for continuous learning and improvement\n\nGood working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases\n\nExperience building ‘big data’ data pipelines and data sets\n\nWorking knowledge of the ‘big data’ stack such as\nHadoop, Spark, Kafka, Hive, etc. or equivalent\n\nSQL and NoSQL databases\n\nOrchestration or workflow management tools such as Airflow or equivalent\n\nAny Cloud experience is good to have, but not mandatory\n\nStream-processing systems: Flink, Spark-Streaming, etc. or equivalent\n\nExperience with one or more programming languages: Python, Scala or equivalent\n\nExperience with version control systems (Git) and collaborative software engineering workflows (e.g., Pull Requests, peer code reviews)\n\nRakuten provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type.
