The role ensures materials are inspected, recorded, stored, controlled, and distributed to tower locations and construction teams in line with project requirements.\nThe Material Controller plays a critical role in maintaining material availability, minimising losses, and ensuring the construction programme is supported through effective logistics and inventory management.\nKey Responsibilities\nMaterial Receipt & Inspection\nCoordinate and manage all deliveries arriving at the main project yard.\n\nVerify delivered materials against purchase orders, delivery notes, and project requirements.\n\nInspect materials for quantity, quality, damage, and compliance with specifications.\n\nRecord and report any shortages, defects, damages, or discrepancies.\n\nMaintain accurate records of all incoming deliveries.\n\nInventory Management\nEstablish and maintain an accurate inventory control system.\n\nTrack material movements from receipt through to final installation.\n\nConduct regular stock checks and cycle counts.\n\nMonitor stock levels and notify the Construction Manager and Procurement Team of shortages or replenishment requirements.\n\nEnsure full traceability of project materials where required.\n\nMaterial Storage\nEnsure materials are stored safely and securely within the yard.\n\nMaintain organised storage locations to allow rapid identification and retrieval of materials.\n\nProtect materials from damage, deterioration, theft, or environmental exposure.\n\nEnsure compliance with site safety, environmental, and quality requirements.\n\nMaterial Distribution & Logistics\nPlan and coordinate the distribution of materials from the main yard to tower locations and work fronts.\n\nLiaise with Site Supervisors, Engineers, and Construction Management to understand upcoming material requirements.\n\nSchedule delivery vehicles and lifting resources to support programme requirements.\n\nEnsure materials arrive at work locations safely, on time, and in the correct quantities.\n\nMaintain records of all material issues and transfers.\n\nDocumentation & Reporting\nMaintain accurate material registers and inventory records.\n\nManage delivery notes, goods received records, material issue notes, and transfer documentation.\n\nProduce regular reports on stock levels, material usage, outstanding deliveries, and logistics performance.\n\nSupport project audits and quality inspections by providing material traceability records.\n\nHealth, Safety & Environmental Compliance\nEnsure all yard activities are carried out in accordance with company and project safety procedures.\n\nSupport safe loading, unloading, lifting, and transportation of materials.\n\nMaintain good housekeeping standards within the yard.\n\nReport safety concerns, near misses, and incidents promptly.\n\nComply with environmental and waste management requirements.\n\nKey Interfaces\nThe Material Controller will regularly interact with:\nProject Manager\n\nConstruction Manager\n\nSite Managers and Supervisors\n\nLogistics Providers\n\nQuality Team\n\nPlant and Transport Coordinators\n\nSuppliers and Delivery Contractors\n\nSkills & Experience\nEssential\nPrevious experience in materials control, stores management, logistics, or warehouse operations within construction, utilities, or infrastructure projects.\n\nStrong organisational and planning skills.\n\nExperience managing inventory records and material tracking systems.\n\nGood understanding of delivery documentation and stock control procedures.\n\nCompetent in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.\n\nAbility to prioritise workload in a fast-paced construction environment.\n\nDesirable\nExperience working on overhead line, transmission, civil engineering, or major infrastructure projects.\n\nForklift or telehandler operator certification.\n\nKnowledge of ERP or materials management systems.\n\nUnderstanding of
