Prior clearance will not be transferrable.\nIn this role, you will provide the client with strong leadership as the Intelligent Customer for C&I initially supporting Reactor Island but ultimately across all parts of the power plant design, acting as the single point for the discipline across engineering projects. You will be responsible for technical delivery of the tasks and technical interactions with the technical partner and Owner’s Engineer, setting scopes and issue task orders, ensuring alignment with technical standards, project goals and regulatory expectations.\nPrincipal Accountabilities:\nLead the C&I design for the project.\nAct as the “intelligent customer” for C&I deliverables from the Technology Partner, providing informed challenge, clarification and acceptance recommendations.\nSupport responses to regulator questions and technical queries relating to C&I.\nEnsure C&I analysis and documentation comply with relevant UK and international standards, codes, ONR expectations and internal nuclear safety principles.\nContribute to ALARP demonstrations and identification of reasonably practicable improvements.\nMonitor progress, quality, risk and change across tasks, ensuring delivery to agreed time, cost and quality constraints.\nProvide regular C&I status updates, risk/issue summaries and decision inputs to the Reactor Island Lead and wider project management team.\nContribute to building a positive safety culture and a high performing technical community aligned with client values.\nKnowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:\nExtensive experience delivering C&I engineering within nuclear, defence or other highly regulated sectors.\nStrong understanding of nuclear safety principles, safety related control systems and relevant standards (e.g., BS EN 61508, BS EN 61511, IEC 61226, IEC 61513 and IEC 62138).\nProven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and manage complex technical deliverables.\nExcellent communication skills and confidence engaging with clients and regulators.\nAble to both act as Intelligent Customer (IC) and also to deliver C&I engineering design, analysis, and documentation.\nProvide technical authority and oversight for C&I systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and project specifications.\nManage and review technical design packages, including calculations, schematics, block diagrams, cable routing, safety systems, and control philosophies.\nAct as a subject-matter expert for nuclear safety related C&I systems, supporting HAZOPs, design reviews, and safety case development.\nCollaborate closely with project managers, systems engineers, and other discipline leads to ensure integrated, high quality engineering solutions.\nMentor and guide junior and mid level engineers, promoting best practice and technical development within the team.\nEngage with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to present designs, resolve technical queries, and support project delivery.\nContribute to continuous improvement initiatives, innovation, and the development of engineering standards and processes.\nAbility to write clear, structured technical reports and contribute to safety case documentation.\nConsiderable experience within the UK nuclear industry at all stages of the project lifecycle or academia leading challenging technical projects.\nDegree in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Engineering or a related discipline.\nChartered Engineer status (CEng). \nEmployee Staff Benefits:\n8.5% Pension Contribution & Life Assurance\nPrivate Medical Scheme*\nEmployee Share Scheme\nSalary Sacrifice Schemes: Electrical Vehicles, Technology and Cycle to Work\n18 Weeks Full Maternity Pay* (+21w SMP)\n25 days holiday (increasing to 28 days after 5 years’ service, 31 days after 10 years’ service)\nOption to buy, sell and carry over up to 5 days annual leave per year\nIn partnership with trade unions\nPersonal Development & Further Education Support\nLong Service & Recognition Awards\nFree Employee Assistance Programme\n*After 1 year of service.\nNuvia -
