Our diverse portfolio offers the opportunity to develop specialist expertise, work\nalongside industry-leading professionals and build a rewarding career while contributing to projects of national significance.\nJoin NUVIA and be part of a growing organisation where you can make a lasting impact on society, industry and future generations, while benefiting from meaningful career development.\nOverview:\nThe Piping Engineer will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team within the Approval Authority, the primary purpose of the role is to directly support current operations and future programmes.\nTasks:\nAuthoring, development, assessment, maintenance and management of the suite of Nuclear Infrastructure Design Substantiation documents.\nAuthoring, development, assessment, maintenance and management of design changes/concessions\nPresentation of Design substantiations, to ‘Due Process’ nuclear safety committees\nProduction and development of Examination, Inspection, Maintenance & Testing (EIMT) Schedule, operating procedures and results to satisfy design requirements and safety case through life\nProducing/assessing Periodic Review of Safety reports\nProviding advice and direction to internal and external stakeholders\nProduction of Independent Technical Assessment (ITA)/Independent Peer Review (IPR) Scopes of work\nUse a combination of general and specialist engineering knowledge and understanding to apply existing and emerging technology\nApply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to design, develop, manufacture, construct, commission, operate, maintain, decommission and re-cycle engineering processes, systems, services and products in a nuclear/high risk environment\nProducing robust technical justification to allow for relevant design modifications to be authorised within a high hazard industry\nReview technical reports and other safety case submissions from external contractors\nCheck and review calculations and technical documents written by other members of staff\nPosition Requirements:\nEssential:\nExperienced Piping Engineer with previous knowledge of industrial plant and machinery\nKnowledge of current design standards and working practices including British & European Standards.\nTheoretical and practical skill and experience across concept design, detailed design and construction stages across a range of electrical engineering projects (ideally including industrial and/or maritime).\nExperience in the design assessment of plant and equipment to withstand hazards\nExperience in pipe stress analysis\nExperience of authoring and producing robust technical justification and supporting documentation to allow for relevant design modifications to be authorised within a high hazard industry.\nExperience working on multi-discipline projects providing engineering input (ideally within industrial and/or maritime)\nDesirable:\nIdeal candidates would already have experience within a similar high-risk environment\nFamiliarity with safety case development techniques e.g., HAZID/HAZOP studies.\nExperience of working in the UK nuclear industry (energy or defence), particularly in the design and assessment of safety-related structures, systems and components.\nKnowledge of UK and US nuclear industry regulation and practice, and application of relevant nuclear-specific codes and standards.\n\nQualifications:\nEssential:\nFor non-nuclear background candidates, a Nuclear introductory course would be required to be undertaken within 6 months of joining\nMinimum HNC or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.\nIncorporated Engineer status or equivalent experience\n\nDesirable:\nEngineering degree\nChartered Engineer\n\nWhy us?\nEmployee Staff Benefits:\n8.5% Pension Contribution & Life Assurance\nPrivate Medical Scheme*\nEmployee Share Scheme\nSalary Sacrifice Schemes: Electrical Vehicles, Technology and Cycle to Work\n18 Weeks Full Maternity Pay* (+21w SMP)\n25 days holiday (increasing to 28 days after 5 years’ service, 31 days after 10 years’\nservice)\nOption to buy, sell and carry over up to 5 days annual leave per year\nIn partnership with trade unions\nPersonal Development & Further Education Support\nLong Service & Recognition Awards\nFree Employee Assistance Programme\n*After 1 year of service.\nNUVIA UK -
