Prior clearance will not be transferrable.\nThe role is accountable to the JDR Programme Controls Manager for the provision of quantity surveying support to minimise the cost and risk of decommissioning projects and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required legal standards and quality. This includes ensuring statutory regulations are met.\nCritical to this role is ensuring that the quantity surveying professional services are provided in a timely, cost-effective manner and at an appropriate quality. It is important that due regard is paid to the requirements and priorities of the various stakeholders.\nAccountabilities\nAssist with the submission of the JDR business cases.\nPerform benchmarking exercises to evaluate JDR project costs against other decommissioning projects across the sector.\nAssist in establishing a client's requirements and undertake feasibility studies to ensure their proposals will work.\nPrepare estimates and analyse decommissioning project costings such as materials, quantities, labour and time.\nSupport the preparation of tender packages with the Principal Designer and the Client commercial team\nAssess tender documents to ensure sufficient information available to prepare tender.\nTake off quantities and prepare costings.\nPrepare and issue contract enquiries and assessment of quotations upon receipt.\nPrepare and issue material supply enquiries and assessment of quotations upon receipt.\nPricing of buildings and civil engineering projects and maintenance tasks.\nPricing of decommissioning work packages.\nPrepare specifications and / or proposals\nProvide QS leadership in large complex construction procurement projects.\nManage costs analysis for construction and decommissioning projects.\nEngage with the risk management process to assist with the valuation of defined risks.\nProvide strategic commercial advice to maximise value for money and minimise risks to the programme.\nAssemble baseline budgets information for project tasks.\nProvide advice on procurement strategy.\nIdentify, analyse and develop responses to risks.\nProvide advice on contract variations and compensation events.\nProvide specialist technical knowledge to the Project Manager and responsible for administering NEC contracts including early warning notices.\nValidate and undertake payment assessments against the valuation submissions under the contract and provide challenge to compensation events with respect to the commercial terms (e.g. NEC4), to include agreeing final accounts.\nMaintain awareness of the different contracts in current use.\nKnowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:\nGood communication and technical writing skills.\nStrong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills.\nExcellent interpersonal skills.\nA degree in quantity surveying or a related subject, accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).\nChartered status with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)\nDemonstrable experience in a senior capacity working in Construction/Decommissioning environment on projects with budgets in excess of f20m.\nStrong contract management expertise, ideally with NEC4 contracts or similar frameworks.\nExperience of dispute resolution.\nAbility to perform exploratory design calculations using first principles.\nA good working knowledge of a broad range of construction and engineering principles.\nExperience with working to design standards.\nWorking knowledge and understanding of construction and decommissioning techniques and materials.\nA good understanding of CDM regulations and their implementation.\nFinancial acumen, including advanced analytical and attention-to-detail abilities.\nAbility to interact with multiple stakeholders across JDR, the wider UKAEA organisation, and industry.\nExceptional communication and teamwork skills.\nKnowledge of the management of internal and external stakeholders at different levels.\nProficiency with technology and surveying software.\nEmployee Staff Benefits:\n8.5% Pension Contribution & Life Assurance\nPrivate Medical Scheme*\nEmployee Share Scheme\nSalary Sacrifice Schemes: Electrical Vehicles, Technology and Cycle to Work\n18 Weeks Full Maternity Pay* (+21w SMP)\n25 days holiday (increasing to 28 days after 5 years’ service, 31 days after 10 years’ service)\nOption to buy, sell and carry over up to 5 days annual leave per year\nIn partnership with trade unions\nPersonal Development & Further Education Support\nLong Service & Recognition Awards\nFree Employee Assistance Programme\n*After 1 year of service.\nNuvia -
