engineering design, supporting project delivery and mentoring the next generation of engineers, while contributing to the continued growth and success of Kelvin Power.\nThe Role\nAs our Senior Civil Engineer, you'll take technical ownership of civil engineering design activities, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients and construction partners.\nFrom initial concept through to detailed design and construction support, you'll help deliver innovative, practical and cost-effective solutions across complex, large-scale substation and infrastructure projects.\nThis role offers the opportunity to combine hands-on technical engineering with project leadership, people development and collaboration across a wide range of disciplines.\nKey Responsibilities\nCivil Engineering Design & Technical Leadership\nLead the design and delivery of civil engineering works associated with major substation and energy infrastructure projects.\n\nProduce and review engineering calculations, technical specifications and detailed construction drawings.\n\nDevelop civil and structural engineering solutions covering earthworks, access roads, drainage systems, foundations, plant structures and associated infrastructure.\n\nDesign steel-framed and masonry buildings, water-retaining structures and other specialist civil engineering elements.\n\nDeliver conceptual and detailed substation designs in accordance with client requirements, relevant standards and industry best practice.\n\nUtilise engineering design and analysis software to develop technically robust, practical and cost-effective solutions.\n\nReview and check technical deliverables, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, specifications and quality requirements.\n\nProject Delivery & Collaboration\nTake responsibility for the successful delivery of a portfolio of engineering projects, ensuring agreed programmes, budgets and quality standards are achieved.\n\nWork collaboratively with electrical, structural, primary design and other engineering disciplines to deliver fully integrated project solutions.\n\nLiaise with clients, contractors, suppliers and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.\n\nSupport procurement activities, including technical evaluations and subcontractor coordination.\n\nAttend site visits, technical reviews and client meetings across the UK and Europe.\n\nIdentify opportunities to improve project efficiency, technical delivery and commercial performance.\n\nSupport the preparation of technical proposals, project estimates and tender submissions.\n\nPeople Development & Continuous Improvement\nProvide technical guidance, mentoring and support to junior engineers and technicians.\n\nContribute to the professional development of the wider Civil and Structural Engineering team.\n\nPromote engineering excellence, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.\n\nSupport the implementation of best practices, design procedures and quality assurance processes.\n\nAbout You\nWe're looking for an experienced Civil Engineer who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent problem-solving skills, a collaborative approach and a passion for delivering high-quality engineering solutions.\nYou'll be comfortable taking ownership of complex engineering challenges while supporting the development of colleagues and maintaining strong relationships with clients and project teams.\nEssential Skills & Experience\nA minimum of 5 years' post-graduate experience in civil engineering design.\n\nA BSc, BEng or MSc in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.\n\nChartered Engineer status or actively working towards professional accreditation with ICE (MICE) or IStructE (MIStructE).\n\nExperience delivering civil engineering design solutions for industrial, infrastructure or energy-related projects.\n\nStrong technical understanding of earthworks, drainage, roads, foundations and associated civil engineering infrastructure.\n\nExperience using engineering design and analysis software such as Autodesk Robot, Tekla Tedds, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage.\n\nKnowledge of relevant British Standards, Eurocodes and industry design requirements.\n\nProficiency in producing and reviewing construction-standard drawings using AutoCAD, Revit or Civil 3D.\n\nExperience coordinating engineering deliverables across multidisciplinary project teams.\n\nExcellent organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.\n\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with colleagues, clients and external stakeholders.\n\nDesirable Experience\nPrevious experience working on electricity substations, transmission networks or energy infrastructure projects.\n\nExperience delivering civil engineering designs for large-scale infrastructure developments.\n\nKnowledge of project management principles, commercial awareness and project budgeting.\n\nExperience mentoring junior engineers or supporting technical team
