Engineer to join our growing engineering team.\nAs part of the global VINCI Energies Group, Kelvin Power delivers specialist engineering consultancy and design solutions across major electricity transmission and infrastructure projects throughout the UK and Ireland.\nWith an expanding portfolio of projects and continued investment in our engineering capabilities, this is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in delivering technically challenging 132kV to 400kV overhead line transmission projects, including schemes for National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET).\nYou'll play a key role in leading technical design, supporting project delivery and mentoring the next generation of engineers, while contributing to the continued growth and success of Kelvin Power.\nThe Role\nAs our Senior OHL Engineer, you'll take technical ownership of overhead line design projects, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients and construction partners.\nFrom initial feasibility through to detailed design and construction support, you'll help deliver innovative, practical and cost-effective engineering solutions that support the UK's evolving electricity network.\nKey Responsibilities\nTechnical Leadership & Design\nLead the design and delivery of 132kV, 275kV and 400kV overhead line transmission projects, ensuring technical excellence and timely delivery.\n\nManage OHL design activities from feasibility and FEED through to detailed design, construction support and final handover.\n\nDeliver designs for new-build, refurbishment, reconductoring and point-of-connection projects.\n\nUndertake conductor system design and line modelling using PLS-CADD, including sag and tension calculations, stringing charts, clearance diagrams and line schedules.\n\nCarry out structural analysis, modelling and strengthening of steel lattice towers using PLS-Tower, including tower modifications, extensions and terminal arrangements.\n\nAssess existing tower foundations and develop suitable upgrade and strengthening solutions.\n\nProduce and review technical drawings, insulator arrangements, line fittings, temporary diversion designs and earthwire/OPGW solutions.\n\nProject Delivery & Collaboration\nEnsure all engineering designs comply with NGET Technical Specifications, BS EN 50341 and relevant Eurocodes.\n\nWork collaboratively with our civil, structural, electrical, substation and cabling teams to deliver fully integrated engineering solutions.\n\nReview and approve technical deliverables, ensuring compliance with project requirements, quality standards and best practice.\n\nLiaise with clients, contractors and construction teams throughout the project lifecycle.\n\nAttend site visits, line surveys and client meetings across the UK.\n\nSupport the management of a portfolio of projects, ensuring successful delivery against agreed budgets, programmes and commercial objectives.\n\nPeople Development & Continuous Improvement\nProvide technical guidance, mentoring and support to OHL design engineers and technicians.\n\nShare expertise and encourage technical development across the wider engineering team.\n\nContribute to the improvement of engineering processes, design standards and quality assurance.\n\nSupport tender submissions, technical proposals and project estimates.\n\nAbout You\nWe're looking for an experienced and motivated engineer who combines strong technical expertise with a collaborative approach and a passion for delivering high-quality engineering solutions.\nEssential Skills & Experience\nA minimum of 5 years' post-graduate experience in overhead line transmission design, ideally including NGET projects between 132kV and 400kV.\n\nA degree in Civil, Structural or Electrical Engineering (BEng, BSc or MSc).\n\nChartered Engineer status or actively working towards CEng accreditation through ICE, IStructE or IET.\n\nAdvanced proficiency in PLS-CADD and PLS-Tower.\n\nStrong understanding of overhead line design principles, including conductor systems, electrical clearances, weather loading, tower strengthening and foundation design.\n\nKnowledge of NGET Technical Specifications, BS EN 50341 and relevant Eurocodes.\n\nExperience leading technical design activities, reviewing engineering deliverables and supporting project delivery.\n\nProficiency in AutoCAD, including producing and checking construction-standard drawings.\n\nStrong organisational, problem-solving and communication skills.\n\nThe ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients and external stakeholders.\n\nDesirable Experience\nKnowledge of HTLS and low-sag conductor systems.\n\nExperience
