This role involves strategic oversight, mentoring junior QS staff, and ensuring commercial excellence in project delivery. The jobholder will interface with senior stakeholders across Planning, Finance, Engineering, and Legal, and act as a key advisor to Project Managers and the Commercial Manager.\nKey Responsibilities & Duties\nChampion a safe working environment and promote SHEQ compliance.\n\nLead commercial strategy and execution across multiple projects, or where applicable possibly due to value, one major contract\n\nDevelop and maintain high-level relationships with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders.\n\nOversee the preparation and negotiation of subcontract documentation, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.\n\nManage complex subcontract packages, including interim assessments, change control, and final account closure.\n\nEnsure timely and accurate issuance of commercial notices under contract terms.\n\nLead the change management process, including the preparation and negotiation of Compensation Event Quotations.\n\nReview and approve / prepare where applicable, monthly applications and valuations submitted to clients.\n\nEnsure robust site record-keeping and compliance with commercial standards.\n\nProduce and review detailed monthly reports, CVRs, and cash flow forecasts.\n\nMaintain and oversee project cost plans and subcontractor liabilities.\n\nIdentify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks across projects.\n\nRepresent the business in client and subcontractor meetings, including progress and risk reduction sessions.\n\nGuide project teams in budget preparation and lifecycle cost control.\n\nLead final account preparation and negotiation.\n\nEnsure efficient use of company IT systems for document control and reporting.\n\nMentor and support junior Quantity Surveyors and commercial staff.\n\nKey Interfaces\nRegional Manager / MPN Managing QS Commercial Manager / BUGM\n\nFinance, Planning, and Legal Teams\n\nProject Managers and Site Teams\n\nClients and Subcontractors\n\nInternal and External Stakeholders\n\nPerson Specification\nQualifications & Experience\nEssential:\nBSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying or related discipline (2:1 or above)\n\nMinimum 7 years’ experience in commercial management within construction or energy sectors\n\nStrong working knowledge of NEC contracts and construction law\n\nProven experience in managing large-scale subcontractor packages and commercial reporting\n\nAdvanced skills in cost estimation, value engineering, and financial forecasting\n\nExcellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills\n\nProficient in Microsoft Office and commercial software tools\n\nAbility to lead teams and work independently with strategic focus\n\nDesirable:\nMSc in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management\n\nChartered Member of RICS or CICES\n\nExperience in HV electrical or civil infrastructure projects\n\nCSCS card holder\n\nValues\nAligned with Omexom’s core values:\nTeam Spirit & Generosity -
