Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor\nBusiness Unit: Renewables England\nReporting to: Business Unit General Manager\nRole Purpose\nThe position involves:\nWorking as part of the Renewables England Business Unit, interfacing regularly with our Operations, Finance and Engineering departments and other support functions.\n\nWorking directly with local project sites and Project / Site Managers to ensure optimum delivery of projects.\n\nReporting directly to the Business Unit General Manager, this role will focus on ensuring the successful commercial delivery of projects across the BU, providing cost and value management, and contributing to maintaining Omexom’s standards of contract compliance, risk management, and financial reporting.\n\nResponsibilities & Duties\nThe successful applicant will ensure the following duties are carried out:\nManage procurement processes for subcontractors and the preparation of contract documents.\n\nSupport the preparation of initial project budgets and thereafter maintain them regularly through the lifecycle of the project.\n\nOversee subcontractor payment processes, including valuation and certification, ensuring compliance with contractual terms.\n\nLead the preparation and agreement of final accounts, ensuring timely project close-out and settlement.\n\nEnsure that a detailed measure of works completed is maintained on an ongoing basis.\n\nOversee the submission of cost/value reconciliations.\n\nMaintain labour cost scheduling in conjunction with the Project Managers.\n\nMaintain accurate cost reporting systems and associated projections.\n\nOversee the completion of internal monthly cost forecasting and project reviews.\n\nLead the preparation and agreement of final accounts, ensuring timely project close-out and settlement.\n\nAssist in developing and improving all relevant IT reporting and control systems within your sphere of operation.\n\nAssist in the estimating process, providing cost build-ups and cash flow forecasts.\n\nReview conditions of contract for tenders and advise on areas of risk.\n\nProvide guidance and support to other Quantity Surveyors within the Business Unit, ensuring consistency and high-quality delivery across projects.\n\nKey Interfaces\nRelationships with key stakeholders:\nRegional Director Power\n\nBusiness Unit General Manager\n\nClient Authorities\n\nPerson Specification\nQualifications and Experience\nThe jobholder must be a commercially focused self-starter with the enthusiasm, motivation and initiative to succeed in this role and possess:\nA third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying with a minimum of at least five years post-qualification experience, preferably within a construction, civil engineering, or electrical infrastructure environment.\n\nHighly IT literate with experience of applying general/specialist packages within the QS context.\n\nDemonstrable experience in negotiating and interpreting standard forms of contracts, particularly NEC and FIDIC.\n\nExcellent communication and negotiation skills combined with the analytical skills to reach realistic workable solutions.\n\nA strong commercial focus with an ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.\n\nAbility to use initiative to develop new approaches and improve systems.\n\nFlexibility and adaptability to succeed within a demanding business with high levels of motivation and evidence of being a self-starter.\n\nGood decision-making and problem-solving skills and the ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision.\n\nAbility to work effectively as a member of a team and be able to negotiate and use conflict resolution skills where appropriate.\n\nA flexible/adaptable approach to the job role, working away from home when required and in a fast-changing business environment.\n\nHighly motivated with strong levels of accountability and ownership.\n\nFlexibility to travel throughout the UK when required.\n\nDesirable Criteria\nChartered status with RICS or SCSI.\n\nAn understanding or awareness of the electrical contracting industry or broader utility environment would be
