The successful candidate will oversee budgets, negotiate contracts, and mitigate financial risks. They will act as the primary commercial lead, mentor junior surveyors, manage subcontractor accounts, and liaise directly with clients.\nResponsibilities & Duties:\nIncluding but not limited to the following:\nPrepare detailed cost estimates, cost plans, and feasibility studies at various design stages.\n\nAnalyse project designs and materials to propose cost-saving alternatives without compromising quality.\n\nProduce regular Cost/Value Reconciliations (CVRs) and forecasting cash flows to ensure profitability.\n\nPrepare tender documents, analyse contractor bids, and evaluate supplier/vendor pricing.\n\nProcure, negotiate, and formalise subcontractor orders and service agreements.\n\nEnsure compliance with industry-standard contracts and manage contractual notices, extensions of time, and claims.\n\nSubmit prompt applications for payment and ensure cash collection aligns with contract terms.\n\nIdentify, price, and negotiate changes to the project scope to maximise returns and resolve disputes.\n\nPrepare and negotiate final accounts with clients and subcontractors to close out projects successfully.\n\nMentor and provide technical support to trainee or junior quantity surveyors.\n\nAssist commercial managers with daily department operations and deputise for them in their absence.\n\nRepresent the company in design team and site meetings, and act as the main point of contact for project commercial matters.\n\nGovernance:\nInterfaces and relationships with key stakeholders:\nProject managers\n\nCommercial managers\n\nClient representatives\n\nSite managers\n\nSite engineers\n\nDesign team\n\nSubcontractors\n\nSuppliers\n\nJunior quantity surveyors\n\nPerson Specification\nQualifications and experience\nA minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related construction discipline.\n\nHold Chartered status with a body such as the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (CICES), or be actively pursuing.\n\n5+ years’ of proven, hands-on experience in commercial management, or as a junior/intermediate quantity surveyor.\n\nSubstantial experience leading the commercial and financial aspects of large-scale construction, civil engineering, or energy projects.\n\nAdvanced working knowledge of standard industry contracts (NEC3, NEC4 and JCT).\n\nStrong background in cost estimating, value engineering, final accounts, and managing subcontractor packages.\n\nAbility to monitor and mitigate risks, analyse technical information, and maximise operational returns.\n\nExperience mentoring and manging junior surveyors and leading wider commercial teams.\n\nExcellent stakeholder management skills for handling complex commercial disputes, client negotiations, and subcontractor relationships.\n\nAdvanced skills in commercial software systems and Microsoft Office (with particular focus on Microsoft Excel).\n\nValues\nIn line with Omexom’s values, the jobholder must possess the following qualities:\nTeam Spirit & Generosity -
