You'll work alongside highly experienced engineers, mentor the next generation of talent and play a key role in growing both our technical expertise and client portfolio.\nAbout the Role\nAs a Senior / Principal Protection & Control Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across Protection & Control engineering activities, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality HV substation projects. You'll be responsible for maintaining technical excellence, developing engineering capability and supporting the continued growth of Kelvin Power within the Transmission & Distribution sector.\nYou'll combine strong technical knowledge with commercial awareness, client engagement and leadership skills to deliver innovative engineering solutions while supporting the wider strategic objectives of Kelvin Power and VINCI Energies.\nKey Responsibilities\nProvide technical leadership across Protection & Control engineering and HV substation design projects.\n\nAct as a technical checker, approver and governance lead for engineering deliverables.\n\nLead, mentor and develop a team of Protection & Control engineers and designers.\n\nProvide technical supervision and guidance across multidisciplinary engineering projects.\n\nSupport the growth of Kelvin Power's capability in Protection & Control, SCADA, cyber security, substation design and emerging technologies such as HVDC.\n\nLead client engagement, prepare technical proposals and support the successful delivery of new business opportunities.\n\nBuild and maintain strong client relationships while contributing to business development activities.\n\nProvide specialist technical expertise across the wider VINCI Energies group, including collaboration with Omexom and other business units.\n\nDrive innovation by implementing new technologies, engineering practices and design solutions.\n\nRepresent Kelvin Power at industry conferences, technical forums and working groups, promoting our expertise within the energy sector.\n\nAbout You\nYou'll be an experienced Protection & Control Engineer with a passion for technical excellence, leadership and delivering high-quality engineering solutions.\nYou'll ideally have:\nA degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.\n\nChartered Engineer status or be actively working towards chartership.\n\nExtensive experience in Protection & Control engineering within the UK Transmission & Distribution sector.\n\nStrong technical expertise in HV substation design, protection schemes and control systems.\n\nExperience in one or more of the following:\nEarthing design\n\nHV/MV cable design and routing\n\nSCADA systems\n\nEPC project delivery\n\nDesign assurance and design management\n\nConstruction and commissioning support\n\nExperience leading engineering teams and mentoring junior engineers.\n\nProven experience preparing and leading successful bids and technical proposals.\n\nStrong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.\n\nExcellent commercial awareness and a proactive approach to business development.\n\nCDAE (Contractor Design Approval Engineer) or LCDAE (Lead Contractor Design Approval Engineer) accreditation with National Grid is highly desirable.\n\nWhat We Offer\nAt Kelvin Power, we believe our people are our greatest strength.
