Today, our headquarters remain in Vilnius, and we've grown with offices across Europe, supported by a team of over 2,000 people. \nInformation about the position \nWe’re looking for Senior Backend Engineers to join Vinted Payments Product - the financial product powering payments, payouts, balances and verification flows for millions of Vinted members.\nDepending on your background and interests, you could join one of two teams:\n- Verifications - the team building identity, eKYC and bank account verification systems behind Vinted Pay. Their work helps confirm that members are who they say they are, and that their bank account really belongs to them.\n- Phoenix - the team building and scaling the core ledger systems at the heart of Vinted Pay. Their work ensures every money movement is recorded correctly and every balance is right.\nBoth teams work on business-critical, compliance-sensitive backend systems used at scale. We’re launching new markets, onboarding millions of members onto Vinted Pay, and building foundations that will support the platform for years to come.\nIn this position, you’ll \nWork in a compact product-engineering team with backend engineers, an engineering manager, a product manager and a decision scientist.\nBuild and operate backend services that directly support payments, payouts, verification, onboarding, balance activation and money movement across Vinted Pay.\nOwn topics end-to-end: from an unclear requirement to a written technical proposal, cross-team alignment, implementation, rollout behind feature flags and monitoring in production.\nImprove and scale high-throughput services in Go, and connect them into reliable, always-on payment and verification flows.\nBuild resilient integrations with third-party providers, including API clients, callbacks, durable workflows, dashboards, SLA alerts and vendor-facing debugging.\nDesign systems that handle failure well: timeouts, provider outages, rate limits, retries, missing callbacks, inconsistent responses and data consistency issues.\nWork with distributed systems concepts such as idempotency, at-least-once delivery, workflow orchestration, provider routing and consistency across services.\nHandle sensitive financial and personal data responsibly, including PII tagging, log masking, retention and deletion requirements.\nUse AI-assisted engineering workflows with tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and others to build, debug, investigate production issues and write plans or documentation.\nSee your code affect millions of members almost instantly. Our main branch is deployed straight to production on each merge, many times per day.\nWrite unit tests for the code you write and contribute to integration and E2E testing.\nOwn critical alerts and business metrics to design and maintain high-availability systems (targeting 99.99% uptime).\nParticipate in on-call rotations and support production systems used across Vinted Pay.\nWork with technologies such as Go, Ruby, Temporal, Kafka, MySQL, Redis, OpenSearch, S3, OpenAPI-first code generation, testcontainers, Prometheus, Grafana, Kubernetes and AWS.\nAbout you \nYou have solid experience building and running backend services in production.\nYou know at least one programming language deeply (any) and can become productive in Go quickly.
