The position will oversee the effective operation, development, and continuous improvement of foundational courses, as well as instructional laboratory activities, and help with laboratory-intensive courses and experiences across the undergraduate curriculum.\nThe faculty member will work collaboratively with ECE faculty, instructors, teaching assistants, technical staff, and department leadership to ensure high-quality, consistent and accessible course content and laboratory experiences for ECE students.\nRequired Qualifications\nTerminal degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field completed by the appointment start date.\nExperience teaching or supporting instruction in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a closely related discipline at the college or university level.\nExperience with laboratory-based, project-based, or hands-on engineering instruction.\nExperience developing, implementing, or supporting engineering laboratory activities, instructional materials, student projects, or related instructional resources.\nEvidence of the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.\nPreferred Qualifications\nPh.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.\nExperience serving as instructor of record for undergraduate engineering courses.\nExperience coordinating multi-section or laboratory-intensive courses.\nExperience managing or providing leadership for undergraduate instructional laboratories.\nExperience supervising, coordinating, or mentoring laboratory instructors, teaching assistants, or other instructional personnel.\nExperience developing or implementing engineering laboratory curricula, student laboratory kits, or project-based instructional activities.\nExperience with assessment, accreditation, or continuous improvement activities related to undergraduate engineering education.\nExperience identifying, evaluating, or implementing equipment and technologies for instructional laboratories.\nExperience with engineering design education and/or multidisciplinary design courses.\nExperience communicating technical concepts through teaching, research presentations, scholarly publications, or other professional activities.\nOvertime Status\nExempt: Not eligible for overtime\nAppointment Type\nRegular\nSalary Information\n$110,000 - $150,000\nHours per week\n40\nReview Date\nNovember 11, 2026 - open until filled.\nAdditional Information\nRequired Application Materials\nApplicants must submit the following materials:\nResume or curriculum vitae (CV)\nCover letter\nContact information for three professional references\nTeaching statement (up to 3 pages)\nResearch statement (up to 3 pages, submitted separately from the teaching statement)\nThe successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.\nAbout Virginia Tech\nDedicated to its motto, Ut Prosim (That I May Serve), Virginia Tech pushes the boundaries of knowledge by taking a hands-on, transdisciplinary approach to preparing scholars to be leaders and problem-solvers.
