VTNSI has its primary operation in Blacksburg, VA, with a research office in the Virginia Tech Research Center in Arlington, VA.\nThe Human Resources Coordinator supports HR operations for the Virginia Tech National Security Institute (VTNSI) across locations in Blacksburg and Arlington. This position provides administrative and operational support across the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee transactions, records management, performance management, training and development, and other HR programs and initiatives.\nThe position serves as a forward-facing point of contact for faculty recruitment and supports departmental hiring by coordinating recruitment activities, managing candidate communications, and promoting a consistent and efficient candidate experience. The Human Resources Coordinator also facilitates onboarding, offboarding, and employee transitions, processes HR transactions in university systems, maintains accurate and compliant personnel records, and supports employees and supervisors with routine HR needs.\nThe Human Resources Coordinator works closely with HR colleagues within the senior management area and central HR office, as well as other stakeholders, as required, to coordinate HR processes, maintain data and documentation integrity, support training and organizational initiatives, and ensure activities are completed accurately and in accordance with university policies and procedures. The position requires the individual to work with sensitive and confidential information responsibly while contributing to continuous improvement efforts that enhance the efficiency, consistency, and effectiveness of HR operations.\nRequired Qualifications\nDegree or equivalent level of training and experience.\nDemonstrated experience in administrative or office support functions that includes one or more of the following: records management, scheduling, document preparation, recruitment coordination, onboarding, offboarding, HR transactions, or employee records management.\nExperience working with databases or enterprise systems, including accurate data entry and record maintenance.\nStrong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.\nAbility to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and provide high-quality customer service.\nProficiency in standard office software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation tools.\nAbility to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.\nDue to the nature of work conducted by the organization, the successful candidate must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident).\nPreferred Qualifications\nFamiliarity with HRIS or applicant tracking systems.\nExperience supporting process-driven or compliance-focused administrative functions.\nExperience working with reporting tools or data analysis to support operational needs.\nPay Band\n4\nOvertime Status\nNon-Exempt: Eligible for overtime\nAppointment Type\nRestricted\nSalary Information\nStarting at $55,000; commensurate with experience\nHours per week\n40 hrs per week\nReview Date\nNovember 2, 2026\nAdditional Information\nVTNSI has its primary operation in Blacksburg, VA, with a research office in the Virginia Tech Research Center in Arlington, VA.
