In Virginia Tech’s Division of Student Affairs, that’s exactly what we’re doing every day-guiding, nurturing, and supporting students as they learn and grow into the leaders and world-changers of today and tomorrow.\nHere’s what you need to know about the role:\n1) You’ll be joining the Student Engagement and Campus Life (SECL) team, a department centered on uplifting the student experience by cultivating affirming environments, promoting holistic well-being, and providing exceptional services, programs, and facilities\n2) You’ll be reporting to the Assistant Director for Student Experiences in a regular twelve-month, 100% administrative professional appointment.\n3) You’ll be responsible for the creation, implementation, and execution of events (large and small scale), with a focus on evening programs for undergraduate students, our Tuesday Night Takeover (TNT) team, aligning with our Hokies After Dark initiative;\ncoaching and supervising student employees to build community and exceptional social and educational experiences for all students; and engaging directly with students and colleagues across campus through continuous collaborations and partnerships.\n4) You’ll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division.\n5) You’ll be offered a base compensation package between $50,000-$52,000 and a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in education, administration/management, business\nmanagement, higher education, or a related field.\nDemonstrated understanding of event planning and execution with small and large-scale events.\nDemonstrated understanding of the role of a supervisor and mentorship in\nthe lives of undergraduate student staff members.\nDemonstrated experience fostering diverse and inclusive environments\nand establishing positive, productive working relationships with diverse\ngroups of constituents.\nPreferred Qualifications\nMaster's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or a related field.\nDemonstrated capacity and skill in organizing a wide range of varied\ntasks efficiently and effectively.\nDemonstrated experience and skill in public relations and event\ncommunications.\nExperience in student affairs with demonstrated experience in large and\nsmall-scale programming and working with university policy.\nBudgetary oversight experience.\nPay Band\nOvertime Status\nExempt: Not eligible for overtime\nAppointment Type\nRegular\nSalary Information\n$50,000-52,000\nHours per week\n40\nReview Date\n07/06/2026\nAdditional Information\nWork schedule: 8:00 am -5:00 pm, Monday-Friday; Nights and Weekends as needed.\nThe successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.\nAbout Virginia Tech\nDedicated to its motto, Ut Prosim (That I May Serve), Virginia Tech pushes the boundaries of knowledge by taking a hands-on, transdisciplinary approach to preparing scholars to be leaders and problem-solvers.
