The main responsibilities include (1) providing day-to-day support to current graduate students and undergraduate accelerated students including onboarding, student records maintenance, inquiries and form submission to the Graduate school, and graduation and registration matters; (2) acting as a contact and representative of the IAC graduate programs to prospective students, corporate partners, vendors and others; (3) assisting with the scheduling, preparation and promoting events, including open houses, information sessions, career fairs, and other activities; and (4) providing backup for other academic administrative staff at IAC and providing clerical support to the graduate program director and IAC faculty.\nRequired Qualifications\nPrevious customer service and/or administrative support experience in an academic or business setting\nDemonstrated computer skills and experience with spreadsheets, database applications and other software used for record keeping and tracking\nDemonstrated initiative, creativity, and the ability to evaluate needs, establish priorities, make quick decisions, exercise sound judgment, and execute both departmental and Graduate School policies\nExceptional organization, communication, and interpersonal skills\nA Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education or equivalent experience\nPreferred Qualifications\nPrevious experience maintaining student records including admissions support, programs of study support, and international student support\nExperience with application tracking systems and Elucian Banner Student and Navigate\nDemonstrated ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of clientele, including students, prospective students, faculty/staff members, administrators and other visitors\nInterest and experience in working effectively with a diverse student population\nDegree in higher education or related field\nAbility to maintain confidentiality and work in a high-pressure environment\nAbility to work independently and function as a member of a team\nExperience supporting graduate students in higher education/continuing education settings\nExperience with social media posting and outreach\nPay Band\n4\nOvertime Status\nNon-Exempt: Eligible for overtime\nAppointment Type\nRestricted\nSalary Information\n60,000-70,000\nHours per week\n40, M-F, evenings and weekends as needed\nReview Date\n10/2/2026\nAdditional Information\nThe successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.\nAbout Virginia Tech\nDedicated to its motto, Ut Prosim (That I May Serve), Virginia Tech pushes the boundaries of knowledge by taking a hands-on, transdisciplinary approach to preparing scholars to be leaders and problem-solvers.
