The Prevention Coordinator will work with Dr. Sam Margherio and Virginia Cooperative Extension on a Virginia Opioid Abatement Authority-funded project to bring school-based prevention strategies to communities across the state.\nThis part-time, during the school-year, position offers meaningful, flexible work for someone who enjoys connecting with people, supporting schools, and developing creative solutions. The Coordinator will:\n-Partner with established Community Advisory Boards to adapt prevention programming for today’s youth and the needs of local communities.\n-Update an online train-the-trainer toolkit that helps secondary educators use neuroscience education to support substance use prevention.\n-Collaborate with Virginia Cooperative Extension Coordinators to share prevention strategies with partner schools across Virginia.\n-Coordinate Brain Day field trips to the Virginia Tech campus, including communication with schools, scheduling, and event logistics.\nThis role is an excellent fit for someone seeking purposeful part-time work with a flexible schedule-for example, a professional, educator, caregiver, or community member looking for work during school hours.
