We play a crucial role in supporting the UK's climate goals by diverting waste from landfills and transforming it into valuable energy resources.\nWe have an opportunity in Exter for a Electrical,Control & Instrumentation Technician to join our team working 40 hours per week, Day Shift Monday to Friday with Callout 1 in 4 on a rota.\nThe salary for this role will be £49,129 per year, and participation in an annual bonus scheme,in addition to our great range of benefits.\nThe closing date for applications is 17th October 2026. We encourage all applicants to apply as soon as possible as we may close vacancies early if we receive a high number of applications.\n-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------\nThis is an excellent opportunity for an experienced EC&I professional who enjoys troubleshooting complex systems, working collaboratively across multiple disciplines, and contributing to continuous improvement within a modern industrial environment.\nThe Role\nAs a EC&I Technician, you will be responsible for both planned and reactive maintenance activities across the site, ensuring plant equipment and control systems operate safely and efficiently. You will support other engineering disciplines when required and assist with contractor coordination to maintain a safe and productive working environment.\nKey responsibilities include:\nCarrying out planned and unplanned maintenance on instrumentation and control systems.\nDiagnosing faults and implementing effective corrective actions.\nManaging calibration programmes and maintaining accurate calibration records.\nWorking confidently with instrument loop drawings, schematics and P&IDs.\nConducting plant inspections and safety inspections.\nSupporting the supervision and coordination of contractors on site.\nMaintaining accurate reporting within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).\nAssisting with monitoring and reporting on critical plant assets.\nCarrying out risk assessments and ensuring safe systems of work are followed at all times.\nWorking collaboratively with operations and maintenance teams to deliver performance targets.\nSupporting continuous improvement initiatives that enhance plant reliability, safety and environmental performance.\nProviding occasional support to the stores function when required.\nCovering aspects of the C&I Engineer role as required to broaden experience and knowledge.\nResponding to plant and equipment breakdowns during and outside normal working hours when necessary.\nWhat We're Looking For\nEssential Experience & Qualifications\nExperience in Control & Instrumentation engineering within a process industry, power generation facility or similar industrial environment.\nExperience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).\nExperience working with DCS and/or SCADA systems.\nRelevant technical qualification such as City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent).\nCompletion of a recognised engineering apprenticeship.\nStrong understanding of health, safety and environmental responsibilities within an industrial setting.\nEssential Skills\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\nAbility to work independently and make sound decisions.\nStrong analytical and fault-finding capability.\nEffective problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.\nAbility to prioritise workload and work effectively under time constraints.\nFlexible and adaptable approach to work.\nDesirable\nKnowledge of Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS).\nExperience with Permit to Work and Safe Systems of Work.\nONC/HNC in an engineering or technical discipline.\nCOMPEX 1-4 certification.\nFormal Health & Safety qualification.\nFull UK driving licence.\nExperience coordinating contractors and external service providers.\nStrong IT skills including CMMS, Outlook, Word and Excel.\nWhy Join Us?\nOpportunity to work within a technically advanced energy recovery facility.\nDiverse and challenging work with exposure to a wide range of instrumentation and control systems.\nOngoing training and development opportunities.\nSupportive team environment focused on safety, innovation and continuous improvement.\nOpportunity to develop broader engineering skills and progress your career.\nHow to apply\nClick apply at the bottom of the page and you will be asked to create a profile.
