We play a crucial role in supporting the UK's climate goals by diverting waste from landfills and transforming it into valuable energy resources.\nWe have an opportunity in Dunbar for an Electrical Technician to join our team working 40 hours per week, Mon - Fri, 07:30 - 16:00.\nThe salary for this role will be £49,129.00 per year. There is also an annual bonus, overtime enhanced rate, and a mandatory requirement to cover on call one week in four. This grants an additional payment to the salary.\nThe closing date for applications is 27th November 2026. We encourage all applicants to apply as soon as possible as we may close vacancies early if we receive a high number of applications.\nThe Electrical Technician is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all the electrical equipment at the ERF Plant, providing support to other disciplines as necessary using experience and skills. The Electrical Technician will assist in the co-ordination of contractors as required, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.\nSummary of Duties:\nResponsible for carrying out planned and unplanned maintenance activities to ensure safe and efficient operation of the ERF plant \nEnsure maintenance plans and targets are achieved safely, economically and within the environmental limits of the plant. \nWork alongside other functions as necessary, assisting with supervision of contractors. \nCarry out fault investigation, diagnosis and rectification as required. \nConduct plant inspections and area safety inspections. \nEnsure that all reporting within the Computerised Maintenance Management System is effective and completed promptly and accurately. \nBroaden experience by covering the Electrical Engineer’s duties when required. \nEnsure that all activities within the ERF plant are carried out in a safe manner in accordance with the Viridor ERF Safety Rules (Electrical and Mechanical) and the ERF’s procedures. \nCarry out risk assessments and method statements to ensure that all activities are completed in a safe manner at all times. \nMaintain a clean and tidy workplace.\nThe ideal candiate will have:\nExperience of electrical maintenance/installation/engineering within either process industries, power plants or other heavy engineering environments. Experience of working with Computerised Maintenance Management systems CMMS. \nAppropriate relevant trade technical qualifications City & Guilds / BTEC ONC / HNC / NVQ Level 3(or equivalents). \nServed a formal recognised electrical trade specific apprenticeship with relevant post apprenticeship experience in an industrial environment as per EE1. \nAbility to communicate clearly and concisely at all levels, both verbally and written \nAbility to work without supervision \nAbility to think logically and solve problems effectively and efficiently. \nAbility to work to tight time schedules. \nUnderstanding of Environmental and H&S issues and their impacts \nKnowledge of plant breakdown issues and methods of rectification. \nHow to apply\nClick apply at the bottom of the page and you will be asked to create a profile.
