Full-Stack Engineer
Build. Solve. Own It.
At Vironix, we're working to make the world a healthier place by changing how healthcare providers monitor and respond to patients. Vironix Health uses advanced AI and remote monitoring to help detect deterioration from viral and chronic illness - giving clinicians better information and patients a better chance to get the right care at the right time.
We're a very small team of scientists, technologists, and builders working on a big problem. That means we're not looking for someone who needs a detailed job description telling them exactly where their responsibilities begin and end.
We're looking for a Full-Stack Engineer who likes to build things.
You'll work directly with our CTO and engineering team to develop and improve the web and mobile applications used by patients and clinicians. You'll write code across the stack, work with APIs and backend services, troubleshoot problems, and take an idea from concept to production.
We're much more interested in how you think and what you've built than whether your resume lists a particular collection of technologies.
What You'll Do
- Build and improve web and mobile applications using React, React Native, and other technologies as appropriate.
- Work across the stack - including frontend, backend APIs, databases, and application logic.
- Write, read, and debug code in Python and other languages.
- Work with relational databases, including PostgreSQL.
- Take ownership of features and problems from beginning to end rather than waiting for someone else to handle the other half.
- Work closely with our CTO and engineering team to turn ideas and requirements into working products.
- Help determine how something should be built, not just execute someone else's instructions.
- Explore and incorporate AI and emerging technologies when they can make the product, development process, or user experience better.
- Troubleshoot, experiment, learn, and figure things out when the answer isn't obvious.
- Contribute to a product that is being used in real healthcare environments and has real consequences for patients and clinicians.
Requirements
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is comfortable wearing a lot of hats.
You should be someone who:
- Has professional coding experience in at least one language and can learn new technologies when necessary.
- Has experience developing applications, preferably including mobile applications.
- Is comfortable working across the stack rather than staying inside a narrow specialty.
- Can work independently without needing every task broken down into detailed instructions.
- Enjoys solving problems where there may not be an established process or obvious answer.
- Is excited about AI and interested in finding practical ways to use it - not someone who sees it as a threat to the way they've always worked.
- Has experience working with small teams where individual contributions matter and ownership is high.
- Doesn't need a lot of structure, bureaucracy, or handoffs to get things done.
- Is willing to challenge assumptions and ask, "Is there a better way to do this?"
- Takes responsibility for outcomes, not just assigned tasks.
- Has a genuine interest in building technology that can make a difference in healthcare.
Experience That Gets Our Attention
We're especially interested in people who have:
- Recent startup experience
- Built and launched applications rather than simply maintaining someone else's code
- Worked on small engineering teams with significant individual ownership
- Experience with React, React Native, Python, PostgreSQL, or cloud infrastructure
- Experience incorporating AI into products or development workflows
- A history of learning new technologies quickly to solve a problem
The specific tools you have used matter less to us than your ability to learn, build, and solve problems.
Why Vironix?
This isn't a role where you'll spend six months waiting for a committee to approve a change.
We're a small team. Your work will have visibility. Your decisions will matter. And what you build can make its way into the hands of clinicians and patients.
You'll work directly with our CTO, have a meaningful voice in how products are built, and have the opportunity to help shape both the technology and the way we work.
- Competitive salary based on experience
- Equity participation in a high-growth health-tech company
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
- Hybrid schedule with intentional in-person collaboration
- Direct impact on technology being used in real clinical care
- Small team with high ownership and little bureaucracy
- An environment that values results, initiative, and good ideas over hours logged
Location
Our core team is based in Austin, Texas. We work primarily remotely with a few intentional days of in-person collaboration each month.
