The ideal candidate will have experience with database architecture, data modelling, replication, clustering, partitioning, indexing, and AWS PostgreSQL services.\n\nKey Responsibilities :\n\n- Design and define scalable PostgreSQL database architectures aligned with application and business requirements.\n\n- Develop database strategies covering application backend processes, data structures, data models, replication, clustering, partitioning, and indexing.\n\n- Design logical and physical data models to support scalable and high-performance applications.\n\n- Define high availability, disaster recovery, replication, backup, and failover strategies for PostgreSQL environments.\n\n- Lead PostgreSQL performance optimization, including query tuning, indexing, partitioning, execution-plan analysis, and database configuration.\n\n- Design and implement PostgreSQL environments on AWS RDS for PostgreSQL and Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL.\n\n- Drive database migration and modernization initiatives from on-premises or legacy environments to AWS.\n\n- Support migration planning, data replication, cutover, validation, and post-migration optimization.\n\n- Integrate PostgreSQL environments with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.\n\n- Work closely with Application Development, Cloud, DevOps, Data Engineering, and Architecture teams to ensure effective database integration.\n\n- Establish database development, deployment, monitoring, security, and operational standards.\n\n- Troubleshoot complex database performance, availability, replication, and production issues.\n\n- Conduct database design reviews and provide technical guidance on PostgreSQL architecture and best practices.\n\n- Automate routine database administration, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance activities where appropriate.\n\n- Ensure database solutions meet requirements for scalability, reliability, availability, security, and maintainability.\n\nRequired Skills & Experience :\n\n- 5 - 11 years of experience in PostgreSQL development, database engineering, database architecture, or a closely related field.\n\n- Strong hands-on expertise in PostgreSQL database design, development, optimization, and administration.\n\n- Strong understanding of data modelling, database architecture, normalization, schema design, and data structures.\n\n- Hands-on experience with replication, clustering, partitioning, indexing, and high-availability architectures.\n\n- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL performance tuning and query optimization.\n\n- Hands-on experience with AWS RDS for PostgreSQL and/or Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL.\n\n- Experience with AWS database migration and modernization initiatives.\n\n- Experience integrating database deployment and change management with CI/CD pipelines.\n\n- Strong SQL and database troubleshooting skills.\n\n- Understanding of backup, recovery, disaster recovery, monitoring, and database security practices.\n\n- Strong engineering mindset with the ability to evaluate technical trade-offs and design scalable solutions.\n\n- Experience working with application/backend teams in designing database solutions for enterprise applications.\n\n- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills.\nSkills\nPostgreSQL, Database Architecture, AWS, Data Modeling, Performance Tuning, SQL, Data Architect","description_format":"text","description_chars":3529,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":5,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":[],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-29T14:00:00Z"}],"liveness":{"score":90,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.903,"p_room":1,"age_days":0,"expected_fill_days":30,"reasons":["seen:0","velocity","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-09-30T05:45:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/virtusa-database-architect","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/virtusa-database-architect.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-01T02:50:11Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":2210,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":2790,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-10-02T00:00:00Z"}}}
