Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, Pension, Life Insurance, Annual Leave, and Wellness Program.\nJob Description\nAs a Compliance Associate, you will help safeguard Visa's payments ecosystem by identifying and assessing potential sanctions and financial crime risks. Using sanctions screening systems and other risk detection tools, you will investigate alerts, analyze customer and transaction activity, and determine when further escalation is required. The role focuses on ensuring sanctions compliance, supporting effective risk management, and escalating higher-risk cases for specialist investigation and SAR consideration where appropriate. You will work in a fast-paced operational environment where accuracy, sound judgement, and attention to detail are critical.\nThis is a 12 month fixed term contract position\nThe main focus of the position will be on identifying sanctions risks using sanctions screening software. All risks identified are then escalated for further investigation and SARs where relevant.\nReview alerts generated through transaction sanctions screening and other financial crime controls.\nAnalyze customer behavior, payment activity, transaction patterns, corridors and payment context to identify unusual activity.\nAssess potential sanctions, watchlist or AML matches using available customer and transaction information.\nGather and assess information from internal systems and relevant external sources to support investigation outcomes.\nPrepare clear, concise and audit-ready case documentation, including evidence reviewed, rationale applied and final decision.\nEscalate high-risk, complex, unusual or potentially suspicious activity in line with established procedures.\nSupport Requests for Information (RFIs) and evidence gathering where additional customer or payment context is required.\nMaintain accurate case records and ensure investigation outcomes are documented to procedural and governance standards.\nWork to agreed quality, productivity and service level expectations, including time-sensitive real-time alert handling where applicable.\nSupport queue hygiene, prioritization and handover activity where required.\nParticipate in team huddles, training, quality calibration, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement activity.\nStay current on financial crime typologies, sanctions developments and risk indicators relevant to payments, fintech and cross-border flows.\nVisa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.\n\nVisa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.Qualifications\nRequired skills and experience:\nPrevious experience in AML, sanctions, payment operations or a similar environment.\nA basic understanding of financial crime risks, sanctions, PEPs, watchlists, adverse media, fraud indicators or payment services risk.\nExperience within fintech, banking, payments, e-money or broader financial services.\nRelevant degree, professional qualification or equivalent practical experience.\nAn analytical mindset and curiosity about customer behaviour, transaction patterns and financial crime risk.\nExcellent attention to detail and ability to identify anomalies within data, names, entities, geographies and payment context.\nClear written communication and ability to produce accurate case notes and investigation narratives.\nAbility to follow procedures consistently while applying sound judgement and escalating promptly.\nComfortable working with data, case management systems and multiple information sources.\nAbility to manage daily workload, meet deadlines and maintain quality in a regulated operational environment.\nGood teamwork, learning agility and willingness to build financial crime expertise.\nVisa is an EEO Employer\nQualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or protected veteran status.
