Progress starts with you.\nJob Description\nThe Senior Software Engineer would be a part of a high-performance Payment Product engineering team responsible for the delivery of features in the Resolve Online program.\nWe are seeking an Sr. Software Engineer to join the PPD Engineering team. You will contribute to the development of next-generation AI solutions that transform Payments Products through Generative AI, Machine Learning, Conversational AI, Intelligent Document Processing, and Developer Productivity tools.\nThis role is ideal for engineers who are passionate about AI technologies and eager to work on enterprise-scale solutions that directly impact customer experience and operational efficiency. Every engineer in this team will work in close collaboration with Generative AI tools as development companions, leveraging Visa’s extensive portfolio of AI models, tools, and experimentation platforms.\nAs a key member of the delivery execution team, you will be responsible to design, develop, and deploy scalable full stack applications enhanced with modern Generative AI capabilities. This role requires strong full-stack engineering expertise along with deep, hands-on experience in LLM frameworks, orchestration tools, prompt engineering, and agent-based architectures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency.\nKey Responsibilities:\nWork independently on defined problems and features\nApply established architectural patterns with good technical judgment\nTake ownership of code quality, testing, and production reliability\nIntegrate AI components and agents with internal/external APIs, business systems, and data sources.\nDevelop GenAI workflows such as retrieval pipelines, RAG systems, orchestration graphs, and agent-based architectures.\nStay current with emerging technologies, conduct Proofs of Concept (POCs), and independently drive solution delivery in an agile environment. You are expected to deliver consistently, contribute to improving the codebase and systems you work on, and operate with a production-first mindset.\nTranslate functional requirements into clean, efficient, and maintainable code.\nContribute to design discussions and document implementation decisions where appropriate.\nWrite high-quality, readable, and testable code aligned with defined engineering standards.\nDevelop and maintain automated unit and component tests.\nIdentify and address defects, performance issues, and reliability gaps in owned areas.\nParticipate in production releases and operational readiness activities.\nWork closely with Product Managers, DevOps, and peer engineers.\nVisa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.\nQualifications\nBasic Qualifications:\n2+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 3+ years of relevant work experience\nPreferred Qualifications:\n3-6 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)\n3-6 years of hands-on software engineering experience building, delivering, and supporting enterprise-grade Java applications, preferably using Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, microservices, and modern front-end frameworks such as Angular or React. Exposure to Big Data, Hadoop & Kafka is needed.\nExperience in technologies/software systems or a directly related field (minimum two years).\nExperience in developing and/or implementing web-based or mobile applications (minimum two years).\nExperience in system design and architecture for product components.\nExperience in debugging and troubleshooting software issues.\nExperience in code review and applying coding standards.\nExperience in test planning and execution for software features.\nExperience in responding to support requests and deploying fixes.\nExperience in using software developer tools for code creation and maintenance.\nHands-on experience with AI-assisted software delivery, including effective use of generative AI coding assistants and developer productivity tools such as Claude Code CLI, GitHub Copilot, Cline, prompt engineering, AI-supported code review, test generation, documentation, and productivity workflows.\nWorking knowledge of applied AI concepts relevant to software engineering, \nsuch as large language models, embeddings, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic workflows, data privacy, and responsible AI practices.\nStrong foundation in software engineering principles, clean code practices, object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and scalable application architecture.\nStrong experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated unit, integration, component, and regression testing, code quality gates, version control, and release automation.\nExperience working in Agile delivery teams with strong ownership of stories, design decisions, engineering quality, production support, and continuous improvement.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues across application, integration, data, infrastructure, and AI-assisted delivery workflows.\nExcellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical decisions clearly, collaborate across Product, Architecture, DevOps, QA, and Security teams, and document designs and trade-offs concisely.\nExperience in financial services, payments, dispute processing, or other high-volume, mission-critical enterprise platforms is a strong plus.\nVisa is an EEO Employer\nQualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or protected veteran status.
