Within this space, our Operations & Infrastructure engineering teams are responsible for developing and maintaining the platforms, services, and automation that ensure Visa’s systems are reliable, scalable, and secure.\nWe are seeking a Software Engineer to join one of our Operations & Infrastructure teams. In this role, you will contribute to building full-stack applications, backend services, and automation solutions that support critical infrastructure, platform capabilities, and internal engineering systems.\nThis is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer who is passionate about software engineering, systems reliability, and building tools and platforms that operate at scale.\nThe Opportunity\nAs a Software Engineer, you will work alongside experienced engineers to design, build, and improve systems that power Visa’s technology ecosystem. You will gain exposure to distributed systems, cloud platforms, automation, and modern full-stack development, while contributing to real-world solutions used across the organization.\nYou’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, platform, infrastructure, and operations to deliver solutions that improve developer productivity, system reliability, and operational efficiency.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, develop, test, and maintain backend services, APIs, and full-stack applications\nBuild and support automation tools, platform capabilities, and internal systems\nWrite clean, scalable, and maintainable code following engineering best practices (testing, code reviews, CI/CD)\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and deliver high-quality solutions\nContribute to systems that improve reliability, performance, and operational efficiency\nParticipate in design discussions and contribute to decisions around architecture, scalability, and system behavior\nTroubleshoot application and system issues, perform root cause analysis, and support resolution of production incidents\nSupport development of cloud-native and distributed systems\nDocument technical designs, implementation details, and system behavior\nContinuously improve engineering quality, system observability, and operational excellence\n\nVisa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.Qualifications\nBasic Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree, OR 3+ years of relevant work experience.\nExperience in analysis, design, and programming of computer applications.\nExperience in debugging and modifying software programs.\nExperience in writing and maintaining technical documentation.\nExperience in performing software testing and troubleshooting.\nExperience in collaborating with users or stakeholders to gather requirements.\nExperience in developing or supporting installation and maintenance procedures.\n Preferred Qualifications:\n1-2 years of relevant work experience.\nExperience or coursework in full-stack development, backend services, or systems programming\nFamiliarity with modern frontend technologies (JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Angular, HTML, CSS)\nExperience building backend services or APIs using technologies such as Java, Python, Node.js, Spring Boot, or similar frameworks\nExposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and an understanding of cloud-native concepts\nFamiliarity with automation, infrastructure, or platform engineering concepts\nExposure to CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), containerization, or developer tooling\nBasic understanding of system reliability, monitoring, and debugging in distributed systems\nStrong problem-solving skills and ability to learn new technologies quickly\nStrong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams\n\nInformation for US Applicants\nVisa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.Work Hours\nVaries upon the needs of the department.\nTravel Requirements\nThis position requires travel 5-10% of the time.\nMental/Physical Requirements\nThis position will be performed in an office setting.
