Progress starts with you.\nJob Description\nRole Overview\nThe Staff Network Engineer is a senior individual contributor responsible for the technical direction, architecture guidance, design governance, implementation oversight, and operational support of enterprise WAN, LAN, wireless, and secure-connectivity solutions within a corporate network environment.\nThis role provides technical leadership for the organization’s highest-complexity and enterprise-scale network initiatives. The Staff Network Engineer influences architecture, reference patterns, engineering standards, and technology roadmaps; provides end-to-end technical oversight across engineering, security, project, operations, and vendor teams; and serves as a senior escalation point for complex cross-domain issues.\nThe Staff Network Engineer operates with a high degree of autonomy and uses technical influence, mentoring, and engineering leadership to improve network reliability, security, scalability, operational supportability, and long-term technology outcomes.\nKey Responsibilities\nNetwork Design & Implementation\nProvide technical direction for enterprise WAN, LAN, wireless, remote-access, and secure-connectivity solutions.\nLead the design and technical delivery of the organization’s most complex, high-risk, or enterprise-scale network initiatives from requirements and architecture through implementation and operational acceptance.\nInfluence and develop network architecture principles, reference patterns, design standards, and reusable engineering practices in partnership with Architecture, Security, Operations, and other technology teams.\nProduce and govern high-level and low-level network designs, technical decision records, implementation strategies, resiliency requirements, and supportability criteria.\nLead technical-design reviews and ensure solutions appropriately address reliability, scalability, capacity, security, observability, automation, and lifecycle requirements.\nAssess network performance, capacity, resiliency, and technical debt and provide strategic recommendations supporting current and long-term business requirements.\nEvaluate emerging network technologies and determine their potential applicability, benefits, risks, dependencies, and operational impact.\nProvide technical oversight for design validation, testing, implementation readiness, rollback planning, and operational handoff.\nOperations & Advanced Support\nServe as a senior engineering escalation point for highly complex, cross-domain, recurring, or business-critical network incidents.\nLead root-cause analysis for significant network events and ensure corrective actions address systemic technical, process, monitoring, or supportability gaps.\nProvide technical direction during major incidents and coordinate engineering analysis across internal teams, vendors, and service providers.\nEstablish expectations for network observability, operational readiness, troubleshooting procedures, resiliency testing, and support documentation.\nAnalyze incident, problem, performance, and capacity trends to identify systemic risks and prioritize engineering improvements.\nSecurity & Compliance\nProvide senior technical guidance to ensure security and compliance requirements are incorporated into network architectures, standards, and major initiatives.\nLead technical analysis and remediation planning for significant network vulnerabilities, security events, and control gaps.\nEvaluate proposed designs for security, resiliency, operational risk, and control effectiveness and recommend required improvements.\nPromote secure-by-design practices throughout the network-engineering lifecycle.\nVendor & Stakeholder Collaboration\nProvide senior technical direction to vendors and service providers and evaluate proposed products, designs, implementation approaches, and corrective actions.\nProvide technical leadership across Project Management, Account Management, Security, Network Operations, Enterprise Architecture, application teams, vendors, and service providers.\nCommunicate complex technical risks, decisions, tradeoffs, and recommendations clearly to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.\nContinuous Improvement & Automation\nDefine and advance technical practices for Python, network automation, configuration validation, testing, and operational analytics. \nLead the development and adoption of reusable automation frameworks, engineering templates, validation controls, and standard implementation patterns. \nDevelop recommendations and roadmaps addressing reliability, scalability, observability, security, technical debt, and lifecycle modernization. \nMeasure whether engineering improvements deliver the intended technical and operational outcomes. \nKnowledge Sharing & Mentorship\nProvide technical mentorship and guidance to Network Engineers, Senior Network Engineers, and network-support engineers. \nLead architecture reviews, design reviews, technical briefings, troubleshooting sessions, and post-incident engineering reviews. \nCreate force-multiplier impact by transferring knowledge, improving engineering practices, and enabling other engineers to solve increasingly complex problems.\nProvide technical leadership through influence and expertise without direct people-management responsibility.\nVisa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.\nQualifications\nBasic Qualification\nBachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related discipline or equivalent professional experience.\nProgressive enterprise network-engineering experience, including demonstrated leadership of high-complexity or enterprise-scale network initiatives.\nExpert-level knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF).\nExpert knowledge of Cisco routing and switching in large enterprise environments.\nAdvanced knowledge of Arista switching.\nAdvanced knowledge of enterprise WAN, LAN, wireless, MPLS, and TCP/IP networking.\nAdvanced experience with Cisco VPN networking.\nDemonstrated experience developing or influencing network architectures, designs, technical standards, or reference patterns.\nExperience serving as a senior technical escalation point for complex network incidents and leading systemic root-cause analysis.\nDemonstrated ability to communicate complex technical decisions, risks, and recommendations to senior technical and business stakeholders.\nPreferred Qualification\nSignificant experience with SD-WAN technologies, ideally Silver Peak.\nAdvanced understanding of SASE solutions.\nWorking knowledge of cloud networking concepts, including hybrid connectivity.\nWorking knowledge of Python and network automation tools.\nExperience with Citrix NetScaler Access Gateways.\nExperience developing reusable automation frameworks using Python, Ansible, APIs, or infrastructure-as-code practices.\nKnowledge of Unified Communications and MS Teams solutions.\nCisco certification (e.g., CCNA, CCNP or equivalent experience).\nExperience with network-performance, packet-analysis,
