Vishay Components, India is currently seeking applicants for Manager Purchasing Position.\nJob Base Location - Loni Kalbhor, Pune\nJob Profile Outlook:\nLead the end-to-end purchasing function for the electrical industry with full ownership of strategic sourcing, policy formulation, supplier ecosystem development, team performance, risk governance, inventory control and JIT excellence.\nDrive measurable value through cost leadership, supply reliability, and adoption of global best practices while ensuring uninterrupted material availability for manufacturing\nWhat you will be doing:\n1. Formulation of Policies\nDesign, implement, and continuously improve comprehensive purchasing policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and ethical sourcing guidelines.\nEnsure policies comply with statutory requirements (BIS, IEC, UL, RoHS, REACH) and internal governance standards.\nEstablish approval matrices, delegation of authority, and digital workflow systems for all procurement transactions.\n2. Strategic Buying\nFormulate and execute long-term category strategies for all raw materials, components, and capital equipment.\nConduct global market intelligence, price forecasting, and total-cost-of-ownership (TCO) analysis to secure competitive advantage.\nLead annual and multi-year contract negotiations, planning of commodity exposure (copper, aluminium, steel, polymers), and value-engineering initiatives with engineering and R&D teams.\n3. Supplier Development\nBuild and nurture a reliable and competitive supplier base through qualification, onboarding and strategic partnership procedures.\nDesign and execute supplier development roadmaps covering quality, technology, capacity and sustainability.\nConduct periodic supplier audits, assessments and joint improvement projects (Kaizen, Six Sigma, Value Engineering).\n4. Monitoring of Buyers\nLead, coach and manage a team of buyers.\nConduct regular one-on-one reviews, skill-gap analysis and targeted training on negotiation, cost analytics and industry-specific knowledge.\nEnforce adherence to policies, ethical standards and procurement process discipline across the team.\n5. Inventory Policy and Control\nDefine and enforce company-wide inventory policy (ABC classification, min-max, safety stock, reorder point, and inventory turnover targets).\nLead quarterly excess & obsolete (E&O) reviews and drive disposition strategies.\n6. JIT Buying Policies\nDesign and implement JIT procurement models integrated with ERP-MRP and production schedules.\nRoll out vendor-managed inventory (VMI), consignment stocking and Kanban systems for high-volume electrical components.\nAchieve measurable reduction in inventory holding cost without compromising line availability.\nAdditional Accountabilities\nOwn the annual procurement budget and deliver year-on-year savings.\nCollaborate closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, Finance and Legal teams.\nEnsure 100 % compliance with company code of conduct and ethics policies.\nWhat will you bring along:\nBachelor’s / master’s degree in engineering (Electrical/Mechanical preferred), Supply Chain, or MBA (Operations/Procurement).\nMinimum 10 years of progressive experience in procurement/supply chain.\nAt least 7-8 years in the electrical industry (cables, switchgear, transformers, power equipment) at managerial level.\nProven track record of delivering multi-core cost savings and implementing JIT/VMI programs.\nHands-on experience with SAP and advanced Excel / Power BI.\nExceptional negotiation and influencing skills.\nStrong analytical and data-driven decision-making ability.\nLeadership presence with ability to mentor and develop high-performing teams.\nDeep understanding of electrical material specifications, standards and supply-market dynamics.\nHigh integrity and ethical standards.\nWhat can we offer you for your talent:\nVishay offers a comprehensive suite of benefit programs including health care coverage, financial support programs and other resources designed to help you achieve your personal and professional goals.
