This position is housed onsite at customer locations in Bethesda, Maryland and Olney, MD. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:\nPrepare corrosion testing specimens to include abrasive blasting of metal coupons, coating applications using various techniques including spray painting, rolling, and brush among others. \nCollect objective quality evidence (OQE) that specimens were prepared correctly. This may include verifying metal coupon surface profiles/roughness, checking coating film thickness, or otherwise comparing specimen preparation techniques against manufacturer-recommended specifications. \nAssist with design and construction of test apparatuses to include rapid prototyping, basic machining, and assembly. \nMaintain functionality of equipment (bench-top testing equipment, large scale corrosion cabinets, blasting cabinets, etc.), including troubleshooting non-functioning equipment, replacing broken components, checking equipment calibration, and scheduling for calibration to be performed. \nAssist engineers with test program execution. This may involve performance of laboratory and/or field tests, helping with specimen evaluation and data collection, and/or performing various inspections in support of corrosion-related projects. \nAssist Government personnel with laboratory upkeep. This may include maintaining hazardous materials inventory lists, organizing laboratory inventory, and assisting with general maintenance and cleaning of laboratory spaces. \nRequirements\nMust possess a high school diploma or GED. \nMust be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance. \nBe able to work independently and be a self-starter. \nMust demonstrate qualities to work with precision and pay special attention to details. \nMust demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills \nMust have 2+ years of experience working in a lab type setting or some type of equivalent experience. \nMust be willing to work in both Bethesda, MD and Olney, MD to meet customer requirements. \nDesired Skill(s):\nExperience working with and supporting DoW programs is highly desired. \nExperience with materials and mechanical testing, corrosion prevention, coatings application and evaluation, and vehicle/ship platforms is desired. \nExperience collecting and compiling data is desired.\nAssociates degree or higher in Science, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field is desired. \nBenefits\nFull time employees with Vision Point Systems qualify for a generous benefits plan to include medical, dental, 1x your salary in life insurance, and short and long term disability.
