This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level technician or someone with 1-3 years of experience who enjoys designing, building, and solving mechanical problems.\nThe successful candidate will support engineers in the design and fabrication of custom tooling, fixtures, and molds used for research, testing, and prototype development. This position combines CAD design, additive manufacturing, hands-on fabrication, and laboratory support.\nPrimary Responsibilities\nCreate and modify 2D drawings and 3D CAD models for tooling, fixtures, molds, and engineering projects. \nDesign, build, and refine custom fill molds using additive manufacturing (FDM 3D printing). \nPrepare CAD files for manufacturing, including exporting print-ready models and engineering drawings. \nOperate, maintain, and troubleshoot both small-format and large-format 3D printers. \nUnderstand basic additive manufacturing concepts including material selection, print orientation, support generation, and post-processing. \nAssemble, modify, and test mechanical components and prototype assemblies. \nAssist engineers with prototype development, mechanical testing, data collection, and documentation. \nPerform basic shop tasks including drilling, cutting, tapping, light machining, sanding, and assembly. \nMaintain engineering documentation, drawings, and revision control. \nSupport laboratory setup, equipment maintenance, calibration, and organization. \nProcure engineering materials and maintain inventory of supplies and printing materials. \nMaintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment. \nRequirements\nAssociate degree in Mechanical/ Structural Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Additive Manufacturing Technology, or other related technical field. \nEntry level to three (3) years of experience in a mechanical engineering, manufacturing, prototype, fabrication, or engineering support role. \nExperience creating 2D engineering drawings and 3D CAD models. \nBasic understanding of mechanical drawings, dimensions, and tolerances. \nBasic understanding of 3D printing/additive manufacturing processes. \nStrong mechanical aptitude with the ability to design, build, troubleshoot, and assemble mechanical components. \nComfortable working with hand and power tools. \nAbility to lift up to 50 pounds individually and 100 pounds with assistance. \nMust be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance. \nDesired Skills\nExperience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Fusion 360, or AutoCAD. \nExperience operating FDM/FFF 3D printers, including both desktop and large-format systems. \nFamiliarity with common printing materials such as PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, Nylon, TPU, or carbon fiber reinforced materials. \nExperience designing parts specifically for additive manufacturing. \nBasic machining experience including drill press, band saw, belt sander, milling machine, or lathe. \nExperience with rapid prototyping and prototype development. \nFamiliarity with engineering documentation and revision control. \nExperience supporting engineering projects in a laboratory or manufacturing environment. \nExperience supporting DoD, US Navy, or US Marine Corps programs is a plus. \nBenefits\nFull-time employees with Vision Point Systems qualify for a generous benefits package including:\nMedical, Dental, and Vision Insurance \nLife Insurance (1× annual salary) \nShort- and Long-Term Disability \n401(k) with company matching \nPaid Training and Professional Development \nFlexible work hours (when project schedules permit) \nOpportunities for travel on engineering projects \nEqual Opportunity Employer.
