We take pride in doing that work well, and just as much pride in continuously improving how we do it.\nWhat You Would Do in This Role\nThe Engineering Manager (EM) is responsible for implementing the execution strategy and stewarding engineering budgets and schedules. The EM ensures proper communication and coordination between engineering disciplines. This position coordinate with the department managers to ensure project and program (multiple projects) engineering teams are appropriately staffed. The EM develops client-specific work processes, aligned with Vista’s applicable process and procedures, as necessary to support the program. Duties of the role include:\nWorking with the Calgary team, determine target markets, and potential clients within those markets\nUsing and maintaining the Hubspot customer relations management system\nAttending meetings with the BD team and reporting on any new or developing opportunities\nApproaching potential clients through cold calls or industry functions, or by leveraging relationships from past dealings\nConducting meetings, presentations, lunches, or other social outings to build relationships with potential or existing clients\nEnsuring Vista is put on the bid list of potential client projects, or is identified as a preferred supplier of engineering services\nPreparing professional, competitive proposals and information packages upon receipt of RFPs when requested\nConducting lessons-learned sessions with members of the proposal team for both won and lost bids\nPlanning and prioritizing personal sales activities and client contacts towards achieving agreed business goals\nConducting market research, competitor analysis and client surveys\nUnderstanding the competition for each proposal or shortlisting of bids\nIdentifying opportunities (via in-depth regional market knowledge) to expand the range of services\nProviding input into client functions, advertising, trinket items and the like\nBeing aware of and participating in reviews of the quality objectives\nAssisting leadership with manpower planning as impacted by potential won/lost bids\nProviding customer feedback to the management team for Quarterly Reviews\nRelying on experience, networking, and judgement to plan and accomplish goals\nSupporting ad-hoc strategic initiatives\nPerforming other duties as requested\nRequirements\nBachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or applied science\nRegistered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA\nAbility to be registered as a Responsible Member with APEGA\nMinimum 15 years of relevant engineering experience, including demonstrated experience leading teams and/or projects\nProven ability to manage and coordinate multi-disciplinary engineering teams\nStrong knowledge of engineering project execution, planning, scheduling, resource management, and change management\nStrong understanding of applicable engineering codes, standards, and regulatory requirements\nDemonstrated ability to develop project plans, coordinate technical activities, and manage competing priorities\nStrong client relationship, communication, negotiation, and conflict-management skills\nStrong organizational, technical, and decision-making skills with attention to detail\nStrong business awareness and experience supporting strategy development and execution\nProficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel\nAbility to meet applicable safety requirements for site visits\nPreferred\nExperience managing programs consisting of multiple concurrent projects\nExperience coordinating staffing across multiple engineering disciplines\nEPCM project experience\nFacilities engineering experience within the energy industry\nPrevious site or field experience\nWhy People Like at Vista\nWe do not just say we're a great place to work, our people do.
