We take pride in doing that work well, and just as much pride in continuously improving how we do it.\nWhat You Would Do in This Role\nThe Senior Rotating Equipment Mechanical Engineer participates in the design of different aspects of energy industry projects from inception to completion. Duties include:\nAssisting in developing the process design for a project or proposal consisting of a normal process unit\nProviding comprehensive engineering and design services by establishing design criteria and preparing, interpreting and applying existing specifications, selecting machinery, evaluating performance, reviewing drawings, models and bills of material in accordance with basic project requirements\nParticipating in the design of component parts, individual units and entire rotating equipment packages\nExercising cost/budget control, and reviewing and monitoring designs for conformance with control estimates and project specifications\nReviewing and maintaining project schedules, and tracking engineering tasks and deliverables in conjunction with project management\nSupervising the various activities involved in the design of rotating equipment and rotating equipment packages\nPerforming preliminary equipment evaluations and selection\nPreparing and reviewing equipment specifications and datasheets for rotating equipment and rotating equipment packages\nPreparing material requisitions and technical bid evaluations for rotating equipment and rotating equipment packages\nPreparing and reviewing equipment lists\nReviewing vendor or subcontractor quotations, drawings, and specifications for technical adequacy and conformance with project requirements\nProviding fabrication/technical support to vendors for rotating equipment and rotating equipment packages\nReviewing facility drawings, P&IDs, and general arrangement drawings from a rotating equipment standpoint\nParticipating in design reviews and HAZOPs as required\nProviding technical guidance to junior staff\nInterfacing with client representatives\nMaintaining current knowledge of industry and regulatory standards\nApplying advanced engineering techniques and analyses to complex engineering tasks\nEnsuring design is in accordance with applicable codes and requirements, including Vista and client specifications and standards\nAssigning and outlining work for others, and reviewing work for technical accuracy and adequacy\nActively stewarding change management as related to their scopes of work\nAssisting in the preparation of discipline inputs for cost estimates for proposals\nProviding construction support\nAuthenticating documentation with a professional engineering stamp as required\nPreparing and reviewing engineering work packages\nAdhering to Vista Quality Management System (QMS)\nPerforming other duties as requested \nRequired Qualifications and Skills\nBachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in engineering or applied science\nTen (10) or more years of progressive experience in application of rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, turbines, motors, gear boxes, shaft seals, and their ancillary equipment, in the energy industry\nStrong working knowledge and understanding of applicable codes and industry standards including API, ANSI, HI, NFPA rotating equipment recommended practices, and industry standards related to rotating equipment ancillary support systems including ASME B31.3, ASME VIII div 1, CSA B51, NACE, ABSA regulations, etc.\nExtensive experience in development and peer review of mechanical datasheets, technical bid evaluations and clarifications, material requisitions, and vendor document reviews of rotating equipment\nExperience with repairs or reapplication of existing rotating equipment\nAbility to work and collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team including Process, Mechanical, Civil, Structural & Architectural, Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls and Piping Engineers and Designers as well as Project Management and Procurement personnel\nP.Eng. registration with APEGA\nProficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel\nStrong written and oral communication skills\nStrong organizational skills, technical competence and attention to detail\nSelf-motivated and efficient in time management\nAbility to meet safety requirements to attend shop and site visits\nPreferred Qualifications\nTen (10) years or more of experience as a fully qualified engineer in the design, application, fabrication, repair or operation of a range of rotating equipment in the energy industry. \nWhy People Like Vista\nWe do not just say we're a great place to work, our people do.
