The position will maintain effective working relationships with others.As an Electrical/Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Systems Engineer at the Perry Nuclear Power Plant in Perry, Ohio your responsibilities will include leading in the development of solutions to system issues in support of plant operations and maintenance during both outage and non-outage periods.\nJob Description\nKey Accountabilities:\nMaintain plant configuration control by advocating for the site's Design Bases\nProvide technical expertise for electrical plant equipment issues on problem solving and troubleshooting teams.\nPrepare plant improvement design modifications that have been approved by the Plant Health Committee, calculations, specifications, technical reports and presentations. Modifications include both those that can be installed online along with outage modifications that require a refueling outage for implementation.\nPerform equivalency modifications for obsolete equipment with Procurement Engineering for Form, Fit, and Function determination\nAct as the primary technical contact for vendor personnel performing outsourced engineering work\nCoordinate owner’s acceptance reviews of products developed by external consulting service companies contracted by Perry for capital projects.\nDeveloping and completing investigations and corrective actions in accordance with the Corrective Action Program.\nProviding support for interface with regulatory and oversight agencies including Nuclear Regulatory Commission Inspections.\nPerforming field walk-downs and interfacing with other groups to resolve emergent and routine plant issues and support appropriate constructability of modifications\nPerforming audits, observations, surveys and assessments of plant activities such as maintenance and operations.\nPursuing opportunities to improve site human performance.\nReviewing and analyzing plant operating characteristics and both Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Industry correspondence to identify operating experiences that may be pertinent to or will aid in the resolution of plant issues applicable to assigned systems.\nReviewing schedules and work orders to ensure efficient work implementation and technical adequacy of legacy engineering change packages\nChampioning ownership of design change improvements and cross-departmental interfaces.\nDemonstrating a solid commitment to all aspects of safety e.g. nuclear, industrial, personal, radiological, etc.\nActively seeking formal and informal learning opportunities to better understand technical policies, practices, and procedures.\nDeveloping effective working relationships with employees within you own work group and establishing a professional network\nPerforming Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and duty team duties as assigned.\nDevelop changes to existing design drawings or the creation of new drawings.\nEducation, Experience, and Skill Requirements:\nBachelor’s degree in Engineering required; (Electrical Engineering preferred)\nExperience with electrical and/or I&C systems design at a nuclear facility is preferred.\nPrior professional-level engineering experience is preferred.\nPrior plant design engineering experience, including experience with electrical, mechanical and I&C components, is preferred.\nBeing able to work independently in leadership and mentoring roles with little Supervisory involvement is preferred.\nProficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.\nPrior experience with Electrical Transient Analysis Program (ETAP) and MicroStation Cad Software are preferred.\nExcellent interpersonal skills and strong analytical ability.\nAbility to develop effective working relationships with all employees at Vistra\nAble to deliver quality and accurate work within established deadlines.\nExcellent written and oral communication skills, with ability to make formal technical presentations to various management levels.\nAbility to work extended hours, shift schedules and perform on-call duties when necessary.\nKey Metrics:\nTeamwork and collaboration skills across organizational boundaries.\nAble to communicate routine issues effectively through written and verbal communication.\nMaintain effective working relationships across organizational boundaries\nUnderstanding of power generation equipment and system interrelationships.\nUnderstanding of economic drivers to the business.\nAble to apply problem solving processes to address routine issues.\n** Final pay grade will be determined based on applicant's experience and qualifications **\nJob Family\nEngineering ServicesCompany\nVistra Nuclear Operations CompanyLocations\nPerry, OhioOhioWe are a company of people committed to: Exceeding Customer Expectations, Great People, Teamwork, Competitive Spirit and Effective Communication.
