This includes valves, actuators, rotating equipment, HVAC systems, chillers, compressors, piping systems, and thermal-hydraulic applications. \nThe role is critical to maintain configuration control, support emergent issues, and ensure safe and efficient operations in accordance with plant design parameters and regulatory requirements.\nThis job is 100% on-site at the Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant in Glen Rose, TX, on a 4/10 work schedule from Monday through Thursday. Employees are typically required to reside within a 60-minute commute from the plant.\nKey Accountabilities:\nMaintain configuration control by completing calculations, technical reviews and evaluations, and by preparing and implementing design modifications in accordance with on-record plant design basis, NRC operating license and all other applicable technical and regulatory requirements for the safe operation of the plant.\nAssist in the analysis, evaluation, and final design implementation of component repairs and/or replacement due to degraded conditions or obsolescence.\nSupport resolution of emergent, short-cycle, and near-term engineering work to protect the work week schedule.\nServe as engineering point of contact for execution of the online work week schedule and resolution of Engineering Holds.\nProvide engineering input and follow-up for Operability evaluations.\nSupport operations for post-work testing and validation.\nSupport operations for troubleshooting and root cause analysis (e.g., FMEA, confirm/refute).\nProvide technical input for testing procedures and analysis.\nSupport for emergent questions and in-field activities.\nLead interpretation and analysis of complex technical issues.\nCoordinate assigned projects, studies, and initiatives through completion.\nComply with safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.\nPrepare and present technical reports with recommendations for issue resolution.\nParticipate in and occasionally lead special projects and committees.\nSkilled in applying systematic problem-solving processes to address complex issues.\nPerform all other duties as assigned.\nEducation, Experience, and Skill Requirements:\nB.S. Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred, Nuclear Engineering preferred), or other closely related scientific discipline/physical science associated with power plant operations; or equivalent work experience (defined as demonstrated success at the engineer/technical specialist level).\nPhysical ability and willingness to support plant walkdowns and inspections.\nProficiency in PC use, engineering-specific applications, and engineering drawing interpretation.\nMinimum of 4 years of related job experience, preferably in medium to large industrial facilities.\nPreferred Experience and Skills:\nPrior experience in the nuclear industry.\nCurrent Nuclear Design Qualifications, or prior experience performing 10CFR50.59 reviews and Engineering Change Notifications/Final Design Approvals.\nThe above are strong differentiators but not required. Vistra will provide training for otherwise highly qualified and motivated candidates with relevant or equivalent experience outside Nuclear.\nPrevious experience in defense, military, government or other highly regulated sectors.\nA PE License or ability to obtain it within 6 months of employment.\nWorking knowledge of engineering standards and best practices such as ASME B31.3, ASME BPV Code Section VIII, or API 610/650/653, among others.\nIn-depth understanding of power plant equipment and system interrelationships.\nStrong cross-functional collaboration, negotiation, communication, and consensus-building capabilities.\nEffective written communication skills for complex technical issues.\nCapability to evaluate technical alternatives considering economic impact.\n** Candidates with all levels of education and experience are encouraged to apply.
