We partner closely with operations, engineering teams, and external vendors to deliver automation outcomes that align with business needs.\nDue to a strong pipeline of capital and automation projects, we are seeking an Automation Projects Engineer to join our team and lead project delivery across multiple sites.\nThe Role\nReporting to the Technical Manager, you will be responsible for end-to-end project delivery, ensuring automation projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.\nThis role is strongly focused on project management, coordination, and delivery, rather than pure programming.\nKey Responsibilities:\nLeading automation projects from concept through to commissioning\nDefining scope, developing functional specifications, and aligning stakeholders\nManaging project timelines, budgets, risks, and deliverables\nCoordinating internal teams, contractors, and system integrators\nOverseeing design, build, and implementation of automation systems\nEnsuring compliance with safety-in-design principles and site standards\nSupporting commissioning activities and ensuring successful project handover\nDriving communication across stakeholders and providing clear project reporting\nIdentifying opportunities for automation and process improvement\nSupporting feasibility studies and business case development\nWhat You Will Bring\nDegree in Electrical, Mechatronics, or related Engineering discipline\nExperience in automation, controls, or project delivery environments\nProven ability to deliver projects from concept through to completion\nStrong organisational, planning, and stakeholder management skills\nUnderstanding of industrial automation systems and manufacturing environments\nAbility to manage contractors and system integrators effectively\nStrong problem-solving and decision-making capability\nElectrical licence (A-grade or restricted) advantageous\nExperience working with PLC/SCADA systems (Rockwell, Allen-Bradley, Omron, etc.) is desirable\nWillingness to travel occasionally\nWhat You’ll Love When You Join Us\nEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)\nDiscounted health insurance and banking offers\nPurchased annual leave\n12 weeks paid parental leave and keep-in-touch days\nNovated lease and salary sacrifice options\nWellbeing and retail discounts\nAbout Visy\nVisy is powering the circular economy, closing the loop between packaging, remanufacturing and recycling.
