We collaborate with landfill owners across the US, installing and operating advanced facilities directly on-site to deliver renewable energy into the nation’s pipeline system.\nJoin us and help drive the transition to a cleaner energy future.\n Vitol BioMethane, LLC (VBM) is looking to add a Senior RNG Technician for our Landfill Gas to Energy (LFGTE) projects located throughout the country. This is an opportunity to join a growing team and be a part of the energy transition by supporting production of a renewable energy source.\nThe RNG Technician is a field-based operator responsible for the safe, compliant, and reliable operation and maintenance of a Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) site. This includes the landfill gas collection and control system (GCCS), wellfield infrastructure, RNG processing plant, compression systems, and associated pipeline equipment.\nThere is no separation between wellfield, plant, and pipeline responsibilities. Technicians are expected to support all site assets while maximizing methane recovery, maintaining regulatory compliance, and ensuring safe, uninterrupted production.\nOperations and Optimization:\nOperate and monitor wellfield, GCCS, plant, and pipeline equipment.\nConduct routine and non-routine landfill gas field monitoring activities including wellhead inspections, header evaluations, vacuum adjustments, and system balancing.\nPerform wellfield adjustments to maximize methane recovery and minimize oxygen intrusion.\nSupport gas-chasing efforts and field optimization initiatives.\nPerform routine rounds across the full site, including wells, headers, blowers, compressors, membranes/PSA systems, and metering infrastructure.\nAssist with startup, shutdown, and normal operating adjustments.\nOperate wheeled and tracked light and heavy equipment to support repairs and maintenance across the site.\nRegularly perform work within active landfill fill areas in coordination with landfill operations personnel.\nWork safely around heavy equipment traffic, active tipping operations, changing grades, unstable terrain, and evolving landfill conditions.\nIdentify and communicate landfill activities that may impact gas collection system integrity or methane recovery performance.\nSafety and Compliance:\nAdhere to all company, OSHA, EPA, and PHMSA safety and environmental standards.\nParticipate in and document Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and all required work permits.\nAssist in field monitoring activities supporting site air permit requirements.\nDocument well adjustments, field repairs, and modifications in accordance with compliance standards.\nExercise stop work authority (SWA) when unsafe conditions are identified.\nTroubleshooting and Technical Support:\nPerform preventive and corrective maintenance across wellfield, plant, and pipeline systems.\nIdentify, troubleshoot, and repair wellheads, lateral piping, header systems, valves, condensate infrastructure, and associated GCCS components.\nPerform dewatering activities including pump inspection, troubleshooting, and replacement.\nAssist with HDPE pipe repairs, well tie-ins, valve replacements, header extensions, and minor field construction activities.\nSupport contractors during maintenance and construction work.\nTeam Collaboration:\nCoordinate daily tasks and shift handovers with fellow technicians and the Plant Manager.\nParticipate in training programs to build technical proficiency and ensure compliance with SOPs.\nCommunicate effectively with peers, leadership, and support teams to address operational or maintenance issues.\nSupport a strong safety and teamwork culture across all operational activities\nDocumentation and Reporting:\nCollect and record operational and compliance data including flow, pressure, temperature, and gas quality.\nMaintain accurate daily logs, maintenance records, and operational documentation.\nSupport renewable energy credit and environmental compliance reporting\n Experience:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required.\n1-3 years of experience in industrial operations, maintenance, landfill gas, or gas processing preferred.\nBasic mechanical and technical proficiency.\nAbility to follow SOPs and document process data accurately.\nValid driver’s license required.\nSkills:\nStrong understanding of process control systems, mechanical systems, and electrical circuits.\nAbility to interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.\nSkilled in diagnosing, calibrating, and maintaining instrumentation and control equipment.\nProficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and computerized maintenance systems.\nEffective communicator with strong organizational and documentation skills.\nAbility to work independently with minimal supervision and make informed operational decisions.\nLocation and Availability:\nBased at a designated plant location, with potential rotation to other facilities as needed.\nAvailability for shift work, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotation to support 24/7 operations.\nPhysical Requirements:\nAbility to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined or elevated areas.\nTraverse uneven, muddy, or steep terrain in active landfill environments.\nWork outdoors in varying weather conditions with exposure to methane and hydrogen sulfide (H₂S).\nSafely operate ATVs/UTVs and light/heavy equipment.\nDesirable Attributes:\nStrong work ethic and attention to safety and detail.\nCommitment to teamwork, environmental responsibility,
