ambitious Assistant Transport Planner to join our growing transport planning team in Nottingham.\nThis is an excellent opportunity for a transport planner with around 1-3 years’ experience, or a strong graduate looking to build their career within a development-focused consultancy.\nYou will work on a varied portfolio of residential, commercial, industrial and mixed-use development projects, supporting senior colleagues while taking increasing responsibility for your own projects and client relationships.\nThe role offers excellent exposure to the full development planning process, from initial site appraisals and access assessments through to planning applications and discussions with local highway authorities.\nKey Responsibilities\nSupporting the preparation of Transport Assessments and Transport Statements for development proposals.\nPreparing Travel Plans, Framework Travel Plans and Travel Plan monitoring reports.\nUndertaking transport and highway appraisals for development sites.\nAssisting with development access and highway design.\nCarrying out junction capacity assessments and basic traffic modelling.\nUsing industry-standard software and tools including Junctions, TRICS and TEMPro.\nUndertaking traffic and parking surveys and analysing transport data.\nSupporting planning applications and providing transport input to planning submissions.\nAssisting with feasibility studies and development site appraisals.\nLiaising with clients, developers, architects, planning consultants and local highway authorities.\nAttending site visits, client meetings and stakeholder discussions.\nPreparing technical reports, drawings and supporting documentation.\nKeeping up to date with relevant transport policy, planning guidance and highway standards.\nWorking closely with senior transport planners and other technical disciplines.\nTaking increasing responsibility for managing tasks, deadlines and elements of projects.\nAbout You\nWe are looking for someone who is keen to develop their career within development transport planning and is comfortable working in a client-focused consultancy environment.\nIdeally, you will have:\nA degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or another relevant subject.\nAround 1-3 years’ experience in transport planning, highways or a related consultancy environment.\nExperience or a strong understanding of development planning and the UK planning system.\nExposure to preparing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and/or Travel Plans.\nAn understanding of development access, parking and highway design principles.\nExperience using, or willingness to learn, TRICS, Junctions and TEMPro.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nGood analytical and problem-solving abilities.\nStrong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.\nA proactive approach and willingness to learn.\nThe ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a wider team.\nPrevious consultancy experience is desirable, but applications from strong graduates with relevant placement or project experience will also be considered.\nWhy Join
