They need a freelance Embedded Linux Engineer to help with a project built on the EVerest platform, the open-source software stack used across EV charging infrastructure. The project centres on existing software, so you’ll be stabilising and improving a live codebase rather than building from scratch.\nYou’ll debug and analyse technical issues, test the software and work out the root cause of instability. This means getting to grips with existing code quickly, reviewing test results and turning what you find into reliable fixes. The goal is software that behaves predictably within the EVerest ecosystem.\nThe role is fully remote and runs full time at 40 hours per week. It starts on 1 November and runs until May, with a possible extension. It suits an Embedded Linux engineer who works independently, is analytical by nature and has hands-on EVerest experience to start contributing from the first week.\nMain responsibilities\nDebug and troubleshoot software issues within an Embedded Linux environment built on EVerest\nAnalyse technical problems to find root causes and propose sound solutions\nPlan, run and review software tests, and interpret the results\nGet up to speed quickly with the existing codebase and system architecture\nHelp stabilise the system by fixing defects and improving reliability\nWork with open-source components and keep changes in line with the wider EVerest ecosystem\nDocument findings, fixes and test outcomes clearly so the wider team can follow progress\nRequirements\nEssential\nExperience with Embedded Linux and open-source software\nHands-on experience with the EVerest platform\nStrong debugging, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills\nExperience running software tests and analysing test results\nAble to understand existing software quickly and contribute to system stabilisation\nAnalytical, proactive and comfortable working independently\nAvailable for 40 hours per week from 1 November\nDesirable\nExperience with C/C++\nBackground in embedded software development\nThe offer\nFreelance engagement starting 1 November\nRuns until May, with a possible extension\nFully remote working\n40 hours per week\nRate to be confirmed with candidates\nDirect impact on software used in EV charging technology\nThis freelance role suits an Embedded Linux engineer with EVerest experience who enjoys finding the cause of a problem and fixing it properly.
