a banking customer in Brussels, we are searching for a freelance SQL DBA for a senior mission.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nHelp define, implement and maintain highly available, performant & scalable database systems to effectively meet IT Business requirements\n\nBe involved in deployment and patching automation\n\nMaintain (backups, transaction log management, index optimisation etc) and upgrade the database systems etc\n\nReview database schema changes to ensure compliance with standards and ensure optimal choice of indexing, column definitions etc.\n\nHelp with problem solving in case of performance problems or functional issues in applications\n\nBuild a strong relationship both within the infrastructure team and with the development teams\n\nPromote best practices\n\nMaintain the deployment pipeline\n\nProfile\n\nExpert knowledge of SQL Server administration, performance tuning, high availability and disaster recovery\n\nStrong experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB, Oracle and enterprise database operations\n\nHands-on experience with AWS database services (Aurora, RDS for SQL Server, PostgreSQL and MySQL, DynamoDB)\n\nExperience with Azure database services (Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, CosmosDB)\n\nStrong troubleshooting skills across database, operating system and infrastructure layers\n\nExperience with PowerShell and infrastructure automation\n\nGood knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory and Red Hat Linux\n\nStrongly preferred:\n\nExperience with TerraForm, Ansible or similar Infrastructure-as-Code tools\n\nExperience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Redgate , Dynatrace, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor or equivalent\n\nExperience modernising legacy database platforms\n\nExperience with GIT, Jira and CI/CD-driven deployment processes\n\nExperience with cloud security, encryption, backup and disaster recovery solutions\n\nExperience with performance monitoring and capacity management in cloud environments\n\nKnowledge of Power BI, SSAS or reporting platforms\n\nNice to have:\n\nVMware vSphere and ESXi administration knowledge\n\nCommVault or enterprise backup solutions\n\nBasic networking and load-balancing (F5) concepts\n\nAzure Entra ID and Azure platform services\n\nBasic knowledge of Go or Python programming language\n\nSoft skills\n\nGood communication skills enabling you to explain complex technical issues is an easy-to-understand way\n\nLike to keep up to date with the latest technology trends\n\nFluent English and
