The role is responsible for making sure health, safety and environmental standards are applied consistently across site operations, supporting both management and the wider workforce.\nYou will carry out day-to-day monitoring of working practices, supporting risk assessments, inspections and incident investigations, and following up on corrective actions until they are closed out. You will be a visible, practical presence on site, advising colleagues on safe working methods and encouraging a positive safety culture.\nThe role also supports compliance and reporting, from maintaining HSE records and permits to contributing to audits and performance reporting. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with operations, maintenance and contractors, and confident in challenging unsafe practice in a constructive way.\nMain responsibilities\nSupervise the implementation of HSE policies, procedures and standards across site activities\nCarry out regular site inspections, safety walks and workplace audits, and record and follow up findings\nSupport the preparation, review and communication of risk assessments and method statements\nManage permit to work systems and check that controls are in place before high-risk work starts\nInvestigate incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions, identify root causes and track corrective actions\nDeliver toolbox talks, inductions and safety briefings to employees and contractors\nMonitor contractor activity and check compliance with site rules and safety requirements\nSupport environmental compliance, including waste management, spill prevention and emergency response arrangements\nMaintain accurate HSE records and prepare reports and performance statistics for management\nSupport internal and external audits and help to close out audit actions\nPromote safe behaviours and engage the workforce in ongoing safety improvement\nRequirements\nEssential\nPrevious experience in an HSE Supervisor, HSE Officer or similar role within an industrial, manufacturing or engineering environment\nSound knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation and good practice\nExperience of risk assessment, incident investigation and safety auditing\nFamiliarity with permit to work systems and the management of contractors on site\nClear communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence people at all levels\nGood IT skills, including the use of reporting and record-keeping systems\nDesirable\nA recognised HSE qualification, such as NEBOSH or an equivalent\nExperience of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems\nExperience of emergency response planning and drills\nPrevious experience of working on a contract basis\nThe offer\nContract role as HSE Supervisor with an industrial client in France\nHands-on, site-based safety role with a broad remit\nOpportunity to influence safety culture and working practices\nRate and contract length to be confirmed with candidates\nThis role suits an HSE professional who is comfortable being on the ground, working closely with site teams and keeping standards high without losing sight of how the work gets done.
