The role is responsible for building and maintaining the plans that keep engineering projects and production activity on schedule, bringing together information from engineering, procurement, production and project management.\nYou will develop detailed schedules, track progress against baseline and report clearly on delays, risks and dependencies. You will work closely with project managers, engineers and supply chain colleagues to understand constraints, sequence work sensibly and agree realistic recovery actions when plans move off track.\nAs a senior member of the planning function, you will also set the standard for how planning is done, guiding colleagues, improving planning processes and giving management the information needed to make decisions on resources, delivery dates and priorities. The successful candidate will be comfortable working across disciplines and presenting a clear, honest picture of progress.\nMain responsibilities\nDevelop and maintain integrated project and production schedules, from baseline through to delivery\nBreak down project scope into work packages, activities and milestones, with clear logic and dependencies\nTrack progress against plan and report on variances, critical path and forecast completion dates\nIdentify risks, constraints and delays early and work with project teams to agree recovery actions\nPlan and coordinate resources, capacity and materials with engineering, production and procurement teams\nSupport change control by assessing the impact of scope changes on schedule and delivery\nPrepare regular planning reports and present progress to project managers and senior stakeholders\nReview and challenge schedules prepared by colleagues, suppliers and subcontractors\nProvide guidance to junior planners and promote consistent planning practice\nContribute to the continuous improvement of planning tools, templates and processes\nRequirements\nEssential\nProven experience as a Planner or Senior Planner within an engineering, manufacturing or project-based environment\nStrong experience of building and managing schedules using planning software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project\nGood understanding of critical path analysis, resource planning and progress measurement\nAbility to read and interpret technical information and work with engineering teams\nClear communication skills, with the ability to explain schedule status and risks to technical and non-technical audiences\nStrong attention to detail and a structured, analytical approach\nDesirable\nExperience of planning within capital projects, equipment manufacturing or industrial engineering\nKnowledge of ERP systems and their use in production and materials planning\nA relevant planning or project management qualification\nPrevious experience of working on a contract basis\nThe offer\nContract role as Senior Planner with an engineering client\nSenior position with influence over planning standards and delivery\nWork across engineering, production and project teams\nThis role suits a planner who is comfortable owning schedules from start to finish and giving project teams a clear view of what needs to happen and when.
