We provide extensive opportunities for personal and professional development, building both employee competence and organizational capability to fuel exceptional performance through an inclusive environment both now and in the future.\nVizient is seeking an Associate Software Engineer to contribute to the design, development, testing, and delivery of scalable, secure, and user-centered software solutions.\nThis role will require working in the Irving, TX office 3 days per week.\nIn addition, there will be an in-person interview required.\nThis role will work closely with product managers, business stakeholders, architects, data scientists, to deliver small, independently demonstrable increments while developing strong engineering skills.\nThe role will be part of a team that leverages AI-DLC to support software development through structured work items, repository guidance, automated implementation, pull requests, testing, and continuous feedback.\nKey Responsibilities\nDevelop and maintain applications, services, APIs, and user interfaces under the guidance of experienced engineers. \nTranslate defined requirements and designs into clean, maintainable, and testable software. \nContribute to backend services using Java, Spring Boot, or comparable technologies. \nContribute to web applications using React, TypeScript, or comparable frontend technologies. \nDevelop and consume REST APIs and support event-driven integrations. \nWork with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and apply basic data modeling and query development practices. \nWrite and maintain unit, integration, API, and end-to-end tests. \nParticipate in debugging, code reviews, technical discussions, refinement, demonstrations, and continuous improvement. \nContribute to application security, accessibility, observability, performance, and operational readiness. \nUse AI-assisted development tools responsibly and validate generated code with support from experienced engineers. \nFollow repository guidance, coding standards, testing expectations, technical documentation, and the Software Factory workflow. \nAsk questions, seek feedback, share knowledge, and collaborate effectively with teammates. \nDemonstrates ownership, accountability, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. \nCollaborates respectfully, communicates clearly, asks questions, and seeks help when needed. \nWelcomes feedback, applies guidance, and continuously improves technical skills while contributing to high-quality work. \nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. \nZero to two years of professional software engineering experience, including internships, co-ops, or relevant project experience. \nFoundational knowledge of software development principles, object-oriented programming, data structures, and algorithms. \nExperience with Java or another object-oriented programming language. \nFamiliarity with web development concepts and technologies such as React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, or CSS. \nFamiliarity with REST APIs, relational databases, and source-control systems such as Git. \nUnderstanding of software testing and the importance of writing maintainable, reliable code. \nFamiliarity with basic application security and secure coding practices. \nAbility to work effectively with product, architecture, data, quality engineering, and business stakeholders. \nStrong communication, problem-solving, attention to detail, and willingness to learn. \nAbility to deliver work incrementally through small, independently testable units. \nDemonstrated ownership, accountability, integrity, and commitment to high-quality work. \nAbility to receive feedback, apply it, and continuously improve. \nCommitment to collaboration, customer focus, inclusion, and engineering excellence. \nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Spring Boot, React, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, or Kafka through work, internships, academic projects, or personal projects. \nFamiliarity with Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes, AKS, GitHub Actions, Helm, or CI/CD practices. \nExperience integrating with enterprise systems or third-party services. \nFamiliarity with cloud-native development or event-driven architecture. \nExperience using AI-assisted development tools or participating in an AI-native Software Factory development model. \nFamiliarity with automated testing frameworks, observability, accessibility, feature flags, or production monitoring. \nExposure to domain-driven design, API-first design, or distributed systems concepts. \nEstimated Hiring Range:\nAt Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances.
