Summary:

The Sr Supply Chain Assessment Director is responsible for leading the most complex, enterprise-wide supply chain assessment engagements and delivering objective, data-driven insights that support transformational improvement across healthcare organizations. This role serves as the senior engagement lead for strategic assessment projects, coordinating assessment activities from initiation through final recommendation delivery while ensuring consistent application of enterprise methodologies, benchmarking standards, and assessment tools. The Sr Director also serves as a subject matter expert across multiple supply chain domains and contributes to the evolution of assessment methodologies and leading practices.

The Sr Director facilitates stakeholder interviews, onsite assessments, operational observations, executive review sessions, and strategic planning discussions to evaluate supply chain performance, operating models, governance, technology, and workforce effectiveness. Working across cross-functional teams, this role translates complex findings into actionable recommendations, prioritized improvement opportunities, and strategic roadmaps that support financial performance, operational excellence, and enterprise alignment.

The Sr Director serves as a senior assessment advisor, driving execution, managing executive stakeholder engagement, and ensuring high-quality delivery of assessment findings and recommendations. This role translates enterprise strategy into actionable plans while maintaining rigor, consistency, and accountability across engagements and provides strategic guidance on complex assessments and transformational improvement opportunities.

Responsibilities:

Assessment Leadership & Execution

  • Provide subject matter expertise and strategic guidance for complex assessments involving enterprise operating models, governance, organizational effectiveness, and transformational improvement opportunities.

  • Lead execution of enterprise assessment frameworks, including stakeholder interviews, operational observations, data collection, and analysis, ensuring alignment with established standards, methodologies, and tools.

  • Validate financial, operational, and clinical outcomes through disciplined analytics, benchmarking, and performance evaluation against leading practices.

  • Identify performance gaps and develop actionable recommendations, improvement strategies, and implementation priorities in partnership with client and internal stakeholders.

Performance Management & Value Realization

  • Quantify improvement opportunities and estimate potential financial and operational impact, including KPIs, benchmarks, and savings validation.

  • Validate assessment findings through data analysis, benchmarking, and stakeholder engagement that translate assessment findings into clear, actionable insights that drive measurable outcomes.

  • Evaluate enterprise-wide performance trends and maturity gaps to identify transformational opportunities and long-term strategic priorities.

  • Develop business cases and quantify improvement opportunities, assess progress toward desired financial and operational outcomes, and identify risks, barriers, and performance variances with recommended mitigation strategies.

Stakeholder Engagement & Cross-Functional Alignment

  • May serve as the primary point of contact for assigned assessment-related activities with client stakeholders.

  • Facilitate executive-level discussions and strategic planning sessions with health system leadership to align assessment findings, priorities, and transformation roadmaps.

  • Facilitate stakeholder interviews and working sessions to validate findings, build alignment, and support recommendation development.

  • Partner with sourcing, P2P, analytics, clinical integration, and operations teams to align assessment insights with execution strategies.

  • Present assessment findings and recommendations to client and internal leadership teams, driving alignment across complex, multi-site environments.

  • Ensure assessment outputs directly inform contracting, non-labor cost management, and performance improvement initiatives.

Delivery Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure adherence to enterprise standards, operating procedures, and quality controls.

  • Drive consistency, scalability, and speed of assessment delivery across engagements.

  • Provide feedback to refine tools, templates, and methodologies based on execution insights.

  • Contribute to the development and refinement of assessment methodologies, benchmarks, tools, and intellectual property to enhance consistency, scalability, and client value.

  • Utilize AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency in assessment execution, data analysis, and deliverable development while critically evaluating outputs and ensuring alignment with professional, operational, and client standards.

Technical Leadership & Collaboration

  • Provide project-based guidance and mentorship to internal team members.

  • Share expertise and leading practices to support team capability development.

  • Support onboarding and development of new team members through knowledge transfer.

  • Serve as a technical mentor and trusted resource for assessment team members, providing guidance on complex analyses, executive communication, and assessment methodologies.

  • Promote knowledge sharing and leading practices across the assessment team to support capability development and delivery excellence.

Scope of Work

  • Supports assessment across the full Spend Management portfolio, including:

  • Procure-to-Pay (P2P)

  • Strategic sourcing

  • Enterprise and non-labor spend management

  • Value analysis and clinical integration

  • Indirect and support services

  • Ambulatory and non-acute/alternate site operations

Qualifications

  • Relevant degree in healthcare administration, supply chain, or healthcare operations management.

  • 7 or more years of experience in healthcare supply chain, operations, consulting, or performance improvement.

  • Demonstrated experience leading assessments, engagements, or value realization initiatives.

  • Strong understanding of provider operations and spend management strategies.

  • Proven ability to manage complex engagements and influence cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate executive-level discussions and influence strategic decision-making.

  • Deep expertise in healthcare supply chain leading practices, operating models, and performance improvement methodologies.

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to translate data into actionable insights.

  • Effective communication skills, including presenting to senior leaders and clients.

  • Demonstrated AI Fluency with advanced proficiency in applying AI tools to enhance work processes, evaluate output quality and limitations, and support informed decision-making in complex business environments.

  • Ability to travel regularly and expeditiously throughout the year to meet clients’ needs and timetables.

Estimated Hiring Range:

At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $135,200.00 to $236,600.00.
