Reporting to the Director of People and Culture, this position is responsible for coordinating safety training, maintaining and continuously improving the Safety Management System, and ensuring compliance with applicable legislative and accreditation requirements. Key responsibilities include educating coworkers on safety policies and procedures, developing and delivering supplemental safety training, and providing guidance and support to all levels of the organization to promote safe work practices and advance ongoing safety initiatives. The Safety Coordinator will support the development and continuous improvement of safety programs, processes, and tools to foster a proactive, effective, and sustainable safety culture.\n\nAs Safety Coordinator you will:\nSupport VMAC's return-to-work (RTW Program), claims and injury management, while maintaining full confidentiality of worker documentation.\nManage the maintenance of the OSSE certification sustainment and audit process and plan for required or suggested improvements to maintain certification.\nSupport company safety policies in alignment with WorkSafe BC requirements.\nMaintain Emergency Response Plan (ERP), supplies and equipment.\nTrack quarterly safety targets.\nCoordination of ERP testing including fire, earthquake and medical emergencies.\nManage working alone programs, devices, subscriptions and training.\nProvide guidance to leadership and appropriate stakeholders if there is a safety incident or near miss event.\nSupport the development of manuals and procedures for training and safe work practices.\nInput, manage, and maintain budgets for Health and Safety and First Aid Teams.\nOther duties as required.\n\nWhat you bring:\nUndergraduate degree or diploma in formal health and safety program.\nMinimum 3 years experience in safety related role.\nCRSP or CHSC designation considered an asset.\nExperience conducting safety investigations and assessments.\nGRTW management experience.\nStrong time management and prioritization skills.\nExperience interpreting and applying the BC Workers Compensation Act and OH&S.\nAdvanced Microsoft Suite Skills.\nAdvanced written and oral communication skills.\nValid driver's
