This role provides Controller-level expertise across areas such as financial reporting, general ledger oversight, month-end close, reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and audit preparation. Depending on the engagement, the Manager may lead the work directly or serve as a key member of a broader project team.\nThe Manager is responsible for moving engagements forward from planning through completion, coordinating client and internal teams, managing competing priorities, and delivering accurate, high-quality work on time and within budget. The role calls for sound technical accounting judgment, practical problem-solving, clear communication, and the ability to take ownership in fast-moving situations where priorities and information may change.\nRequirements\nKey Responsibilities\nLead Controller and financial advisory engagements from planning through completion, with accountability for deliverables, deadlines, quality, and client satisfaction.\nProvide Controller-level support across financial reporting, general ledger oversight, close processes, reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and audit preparation.\nAssess complex accounting and financial issues, develop practical solutions, and drive issues through resolution.\nBuild and manage project plans, set expectations and deadlines, assign responsibilities, and follow up to keep work on track.\nCoordinate client personnel and internal consulting teams to gather information, resolve issues, and complete deliverables.\nManage multiple engagements and competing priorities while maintaining responsiveness and meeting commitments.\nDelegate work to Consultants and Senior Consultants and remain accountable for the quality and timeliness of engagement deliverables.\nReview financial information and team work product, identify issues, and communicate findings and actionable recommendations.\nAnticipate roadblocks, escalate issues when appropriate, and take ownership of moving engagements to completion.\nBuild productive client relationships and communicate directly about expectations, deadlines, responsibilities, and outstanding needs.\nIdentify opportunities to improve clients’ accounting processes, financial reporting, internal controls, and finance operations.\nPrepare clear, polished, client-ready reports, analyses, and presentations.\nSupport the development of team members and contribute to the continued growth of VMG Health’s financial advisory services.\nRequired Qualifications\nProgressive accounting experience, including demonstrated responsibilities at the Controller level.\nStrong technical accounting knowledge and the judgment to address complex or unfamiliar accounting issues.\nExperience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, reconciliations, and audit preparation.\nDemonstrated project management skills, including organizing complex work, managing dependencies, and keeping multiple stakeholders accountable to deadlines.\nExperience managing client relationships, establishing expectations, and communicating effectively with client leadership.\nAbility to lead internal project teams and coordinate client teams toward shared deliverables and outcomes.\nAbility to manage multiple engagements, shifting priorities, and tight deadlines while maintaining quality and follow-through.\nStrong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with complex financial data.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in healthcare, nonprofit organizations, or Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs).\nExperience in consulting or outsourced accounting.\nAbout VMG Health\nVMG Health is the leading healthcare consulting firm for business performance.
