Check out our careers page to find more opportunities at Careers - VOA Illinois.\nPosition Summary: The Maintenance Technician performs routine maintenance, repairs, and property inspections to maintain a safe and functional living environment. This role works closely with the Property Manager, and collaborates with HMJ maintenance staff to complete tasks, unit turnovers, and service requests, and maintains cleanliness of the property, including indoor and outdoor spaces while ensuring quality and timely service for residents.\n What You’ll Do:\nSupport the property team in maintaining budgeted cost guidelines\nOrder supplies, parts, and equipment; notify Property Manager of needed purchases\nAssist with unit turn-over to ensure apartments meet rent-ready standards for showings and move-ins\nConduct regular property inspections and complete maintenance/repairs as needed\nFollow company safety policies and use required safety equipment\nPerform safety inspections and maintain proper key control procedures\nClean and sanitize restrooms, offices, common areas, hallways, and other assigned spaces. Sweep, mop, vacuum, and wax floors; clean windows, walls, and fixtures.\nCollect and dispose of trash and recycling according to procedures.\nMaintain knowledge of property layout, including utility shut-offs and safety features\nAttend safety meetings and comply with OSHA, EPA, and other safety regulations\nEnsure proper labeling, storage, and handling of hazardous materials\nAddress safety and security issues (e.g., lighting, hazards, repairs)\nRespond to maintenance requests promptly and ensure timely follow-up\nProvide strong customer service to residents and staff\nPerform exterior grounds maintenance, including landscaping and seasonal upkeep\nComplete snow removal and ice control to ensure safe property conditions\nCollaborate with HMII maintenance team members on shared maintenance projects and repairs across multiple sites\nExhibit cultural competence while serving clients of diverse backgrounds and commit to expanding knowledge and understanding of different communities and people groups.\nWork Environment & Schedule:\nFull-time, in-office position averaging 40 hours per week\nValid driver’s license required\nCommunity-based travel required for property maintenance requests\nAbility to lift up to 50 lbs.\nPhysical demands include manual labor, use of tools and equipment, and frequent movement throughout the property.
