We share a passion for the power of design, and a commitment to collaboration at every stage of the creative process.\nTechnical Coordinating Director\nOverview\nThe Technical Coordinating Director is responsible for the development, maintenance, quality control, and continuous improvement of the firm’s architectural and interior details library, including the creation of new content. This role ensures that existing and new details align with the firm's graphic standards, reflect current best practices, support constructability, and promote consistency across all project teams.\nWorking closely with the Quality Assurance Team, Technical Directors, Technology Team, and discipline experts, this position will lead the creation, review, editing, organization, and implementation of standard details while coordinating production resources to execute revisions and maintain library accuracy. The role serves as a key steward for the firm’s technical knowledge and project delivery standards.\nPreferred Remote Work Locations: New York City, New York, Chicago, Illinois, Cleveland, Ohio\nResponsibilities\nStandards Development & Library Management\nReview, evaluate, and update architectural and interior design details to improve quality, clarity, consistency, and constructability.\nIdentify gaps in the detail library and lead the creation of new details across all studios and offices. \nIncorporate firm graphic standards into all details and establish consistent presentation requirements.\nDevelop and maintain documentation standards, drafting conventions, annotation standards, and detail organization protocols.\nCoordinate details with current building codes, industry standards, construction methods, and firm best practices.\nIdentify opportunities to consolidate, eliminate, or develop new details based on project team needs and lessons learned.\nTechnical Quality & Constructability\nPerform detailed technical reviews of details for accuracy, coordination, and practical application.\nCollaborate with Technical Directors and subject matter experts to validate technical content and constructability.\nEvaluate recurring project issues and incorporate corrective improvements into library standards.\nAssist in establishing firm-wide standards for detailing and technical documentation.\nCross-Functional Coordination\nAs a member of the Quality Assurance/Risk Management Team (QA/RM), align the detail library updates with quality initiatives and project delivery standards.\nPartner with QA/RM Team and Technical Directors to establish priorities, review revisions, and obtain technical approval of updated content.\nWork with the Technology Team to improve organization, accessibility, version control, and maintenance of the detail library resources.\nFacilitate communications between technical leadership, project teams, and content contributors regarding library changes and standards implementation.\nCoordination with materials librarians to understand new product introductions and implementation. \nProduction Management\nPrepare new details, as well as redlines, markups, and revisions of existing details for assigned production team members.\nCoordinate internal staff and external consultants assigned to execute detailed updates and revisions.\nReview completed revisions and perform back-checks to verify accuracy, consistency, and compliance with established standards.\nTrack progress of ongoing library initiatives and update related schedules.\nManage multiple detail library improvement efforts simultaneously while maintaining established priorities and deadlines.\nTraining & Implementation\nCommunicate library updates and standards changes to affected project teams and the firm as a whole.\nSupport technical training initiatives related to detailing standards and documentation quality.\nAssist in developing guidance materials and best-practice resources for architects and interior designers.\nPromote consistent application of firm standards across all studios and offices.\nMentor architectural and interiors staff. \nCapabilities\nStrong technical knowledge of architectural and interior construction detailing.\nExtensive experience in construction documentation, detailing, project delivery, and construction administration.\nThorough understanding of building systems, materials, assemblies, and construction methods for both ground-up projects and interior architecture projects.\nStrong graphic communication and documentation skills.\nDemonstrated ability to identify constructability concerns and develop practical solutions.\nExcellent organization, project management, and coordination skills.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to collaborate effectively with the QA/RM Team, Technical Directors, technology team, and production staff.\nRequirements\nQualifications\nProfessional degree in Architecture or Interior Design from an accredited program. \nRegistered Architect and/or NCIDQ certification preferred.\n10+ years of professional experience in architecture, interior design, construction documentation, technical leadership, or quality assurance.\nAdvanced proficiency in Revit and related documentation software.\nExperience developing firm standards, technical resources, or detail libraries.\nComprehensive knowledge of commercial building construction and project delivery processes.\nThis description indicates in general terms, the type and level of work performed as well as the typical responsibilities of employees in this classification.
