In this role, you’ll be responsible for delivering fixed and wireless engineering solutions across our existing and next-generation communication networks. \nAs a Senior RAN Engineer, you will play a key role in the end-to-end design, planning, deployment, and optimisation of radio and microwave networks—from concept through to commissioning. \nWhat You’ll Be Doing\nYou’ll work closely with the RAN Manager/Team Lead and collaborate across engineering, transmission, and core network teams to ensure the reliability, performance, and future readiness of Vocus’s wireless infrastructure.\nYour responsibilities will also include; \nRadio Access Network (RAN) Engineering\nDeploy, maintain, and optimise the RAN to ensure high availability and exceptional performance.\nIntegrate and configure eNBs and gNBs across 4G and 5G technologies.\nMonitor radio KPIs, perform audits, analyse performance trends, and recommend parameter changes.\nConduct drive testing and provide detailed RF analysis and reporting.\nTroubleshoot RAN-related issues and support service restoration activities.\nNetwork Planning & Design\nPerform detailed RF planning including coverage, capacity, and interference analysis.\nConduct spectrum planning, link budgeting, and site selection across diverse environments.\nEnsure seamless integration of new macro, micro, and small cell sites with transmission and core networks.\nMicrowave Transmission\nPlan and design microwave (MW) links including path and frequency planning.\nPerform on-site antenna alignment, acceptance testing, and MW performance optimisation.\nMonitor MW KPIs and ensure all transmission paths meet operational standards.\nPrepare link budget documentation and coordinate with vendors and field teams.\nPerformance, Optimisation & Capacity\nMonitor real-time network analytics and KPIs to maintain peak network performance.\nImplement optimisation strategies to improve user experience and network efficiency.\nManage capacity upgrades as traffic and user demands evolve.\nSupport technology uplift programs (4G, 5G NSA/SA, and future technologies).\nInnovation & Future Readiness\nContribute to testing and adoption of next-gen radio technologies such as:\nMassive MIMO\nCarrier Aggregation\nOpen RAN\nEnsure Vocus remains at the forefront of wireless engineering standards and best practice.\nWhat You’ll Bring to the role\n3+ years’ proven experience in the design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of LTE/RAN equipment.\nProven experience deploying Private Wireless Networks within Australia. \nAvailability to travel for work occasionally \nProven experience using RF drive test tools such as TEMS or Nemo.\nExperience with RF planning tools including:\nATDI HTZ\nCambium Link Planner\nStrong technical capability in RF system support, troubleshooting, and optimisation.\nAbility to work collaboratively across technical, field, vendor, and project teams.\nStrong documentation, analytical and problem-solving skills.\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Communications Engineering, or related
