This role is responsible for designing, developing, integrating and operating production-ready Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI and Agentic AI solutions that address complex business challenges and deliver measurable value.\nThe role combines applied AI expertise with strong software engineering practice, supporting the full solution lifecycle from use case assessment, design and prototyping through to testing, deployment, monitoring, support and continuous improvement. Working closely with engineering, data, platform, security, product and business stakeholders, the AI Engineer translates business requirements into scalable technical solutions, including machine learning models, LLM-based applications, RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, APIs and cloud-native services.\nThe role also ensures that AI solutions are reliable, secure, compliant, cost-effective and aligned with responsible AI, privacy and security standards.\nWhat you’ll do\nDesign, develop and test AI solutions using machine learning, deep learning, NLP, computer vision, Generative AI and Agentic AI techniques.\nDevelop and integrate LLM-based applications, prompt patterns, RAG pipelines and AI workflows into enterprise systems and platforms.\nBuild, optimise and maintain AI software to process large datasets, improve prediction accuracy and deliver reliable business outcomes.\nArchitect scalable, secure and maintainable AI pipelines across cloud, on-premise and hybrid infrastructure.\nExpose and consume standardised tools and capabilities through APIs, MCP Servers and reusable integration patterns.\nEnable interoperability across AI models, agents, services and enterprise platforms.\nEvaluate and integrate open-source and proprietary AI tools, model providers and automation frameworks.\nSupport functional and non-functional testing, including model evaluation, performance, reliability, security and user acceptance testing.\nPrepare release packages for test and production environments.\nContribute to deployment, monitoring, observability and lifecycle management of AI solutions.\nInvestigate and resolve defects, incidents and problems during development and application lifecycle, including Level 2 and Level 3 support where applicable.\nCollaborate with product, engineering, data, security and business teams to identify, assess and prioritise impactful AI use cases.\nTranslate business requirements into technical solutions and explain technical implications, risks and trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.\nCollect, organise and present progress updates, technical recommendations and lessons learned to team leadership and stakeholders.\nEnsure AI solutions follow responsible AI, privacy, security, compliance and data protection standards.\nImplement controls against data leakage, prompt injection and misuse.\nMonitor emerging AI trends, tools, regulations and market developments, proactively recommending relevant improvements or new applications.\nContribute to reusable engineering practices, documentation, standards and knowledge sharing across AI delivery teams.\nSupport onboarding and integration of new team members by preparing and running knowledge-transfer sessions.\nBuild technical redundancy within the team by writing, sharing and explaining technical documentation, operating procedures and solution architecture.\nParticipate in team, department and company initiatives, strategic projects and cross-cutting objectives.\nProvide technical support, mentoring and guidance to fellow team members.\nWho you are\nProven experience developing, deploying and supporting AI, machine learning or Generative AI solutions in production environments.\nStrong understanding of machine learning concepts, deep learning, NLP, computer vision, LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG and model evaluation techniques.\nExperience across the AI solution lifecycle, including functional design, prototyping, testing, deployment, monitoring, support and continuous improvement.\nGood knowledge of software engineering principles, algorithms, object-oriented and functional design, API development and best-practice implementation patterns.\nExperience working with large datasets, data analysis, statistical methods and data quality considerations.\nUnderstanding of scalable, secure and compliant AI architectures, including cloud-native services, microservices, integration patterns and observability.\nAbility to collaborate cross-functionally with product, data, platform, security, operations and business stakeholders in a complex matrix environment.\nStrong communication, presentation and analytical skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear business language.\nTrack record of taking initiative to solve complex engineering problems, improve delivery practices and support product or service improvements.\nAbility to learn fast-evolving AI technologies, prioritise workload and operate effectively in high-availability or regulated environments.\nCommitment to continuously developing technical knowledge and skills, including at senior level.\nUniversity degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Software Engineering, Telecommunications or equivalent professional experience.\nProficient in English, both spoken and written.Strong programming skills in Python.\nExperience with Java, C++ or other AI and software development languages would be advantageous.\nHands-on experience with deep learning and machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch or equivalent.Experience with LLM providers and platforms such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI or equivalent, including provider abstraction where applicable.\nKnowledge of RAG, vector databases, prompt engineering, model evaluation, agentic patterns and multi-agent topologies.\nExperience exposing or consuming MCP Servers and implementing standardised tools or capability interfaces for AI systems would be advantageous.\nExperience building REST APIs, cloud-native microservices and integrations using SOAP, REST JSON or equivalent communication protocols.\nUnderstanding of Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD tools and modern software
