This role is responsible for ensuring the functionality, availability, security, and performance of database platforms while supporting critical business and technology services. The successful candidate will provide multi-level operational support, design and implement database solutions, develop automation and optimisation initiatives, and build robust data integration pipelines that connect diverse data sources.\nWorking within an international and collaborative environment, you will contribute to service excellence, technology transformation programmes, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring delivery against agreed service levels and operational standards.\nWhat you’ll do\nProvide Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 support for database platforms, incidents, problems, and service requests.\nDesign, build, and maintain ETL/ELT data integration pipelines across multiple data sources.\nBuild and maintain centralised data lakehouse and data-broker solutions that support multiple business consumers.\nDevelop scripts and automation solutions to improve operational efficiency and extend platform functionality.\nConduct technical investigations and root-cause analysis for performance-related incidents and complex technical issues.\nDefine technical requirements and design, configure, and implement database solutions.\nOptimise database architectures and implement upgrades to improve performance, scalability, and reliability.\nEnsure database integrity, security, availability, and compliance for IT and telecommunications applications.\nSupport project delivery through technical expertise, implementation guidance, and quality assurance activities.\nContribute to transformation and technology refresh programmes focused on enhancing service quality and reducing downtime.\nPerform proactive maintenance activities using monitoring tools, alerts, and automated notifications.\nCreate and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, operating procedures, and knowledge-sharing materials.\nFacilitate onboarding and knowledge-transfer sessions for team members.\nPromote technical collaboration by mentoring colleagues and supporting skills development across the team.\nContribute to strategic initiatives, process improvements, investigations, analyses, and cross-functional projects.\nWho you are\nProven experience in database support and development environments (3+ years).\nExperience working with data integration, ETL/ELT pipelines, data modelling, and data quality frameworks.\nExperience building and maintaining data lakehouse or data-broker architectures.\nAdvanced knowledge of database administration in production environments.\nStrong expertise across multiple database technologies including Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL.\nAdvanced SQL performance tuning and optimisation skills.\nProgramming experience with T-SQL, PL/SQL, KSH/Unix Shell scripting, and Python.\nUnderstanding of ITIL principles and IT Service Management concepts, including ISO20000.\nWorking knowledge of SOX controls and general information security principles.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to issue resolution.\nExcellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.\nExperience working with geographically distributed and remote teams.\nCustomer-focused mindset with a commitment to service excellence.\nStrong documentation and knowledge-sharing capabilities.\nFluent written and spoken English.\nCommitment to continuous learning and professional development.\nNot a perfect fit?\nConcerned you may not meet every requirement?
