Delighting our customers and earning their loyalty drive us, and we experiment, learn fast and get it done, together.\n\nWith us, you can be truly be yourself and belong, share inspiration, embrace new opportunities, thrive, and make a real difference.\n\nRole Purpose & Key Responsibilities\n\nRole purpose:\n\n• Accountable for overseeing systems administration, providing technical support and driving software development and systems Integration initiatives.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nDevelop and maintain software in line with Vodacom software development life cycle and standards.\n\nOversee systems/applications configurations and ensure their security in line with VTL standards, policies, procedures, and industry best practices.\n\nManage systems problems, Incidents, and requests as per the SLA and responsible but not limited to Business Continuity Planning/Disaster Recovery Planning of all systems under his/her watch but also oversee systems capacity, Backup & Restore for optimal provision of services\n\nCollaborate with backend systems’ teams to ensure proper implementation and integration of the solutions.\n\nAttend Projects related to the VAS Applications’ and IT and Billing and Vodacom at large.\n\nProfessional Qualification, Competencies, Knowledge and Experience\n\nBachelor’s degree in computer science/Engineering, Information Technology or its equivalent.\n\n2+ years’ experience in programming languages such as visual basic, C#, C/C++, Python, JavaScript, ASP, PHP, Java, Go\n\nExperience working in cloud-native environments.\n\nExperience working with agile methodologies, such as Scrum, Kanban, XP, LSD, and FDD would be an added advantage.\n\nTelecommunications and Project Management knowledge experience would be an added advantage.\n\nExtensive knowledge and hands-on experience with RESTful APIs, including design, integration, and troubleshooting.\n\nProven ability to manage incidents effectively, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.\n\nDevOps culture, processes, and tools.\n\nContinuous integration and continuous delivery methodologies and tools.\n\nUnit, integration, smoke and static code analysis testing.\n\nBacklog item estimation\n\nExtensive knowledge and proven experience with core internet and networking protocols, including HTTP, DNS, WebSocket, FTP, SSH, and SMPP.\n\nProven expertise in managing code repositories, branching strategies, and collaborative workflows using VCS tools\n\nStrong knowledge and practical experience with multiple programming and markup languages, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Java, Ruby, SQL, XML, JSON, YAML, C, Golang, and Python.\n\nExtensive knowledge and hands-on experience with both relational (RDBMS) and non-relational databases, including MariaDB, Oracle, and MongoDB.\n\nExtensive knowledge and proven experience in administering operating systems, including Linux, Windows Server, and Unix.\n\nStrong knowledge and proven experience with shell scripting for automation and system administration tasks\n\nProven expertise in software development, with strong skills in designing, coding, testing, and deploying applications.\n\nStrong knowledge around Cloud-native architectures, including public cloud PaaS / IaaS, micro-services architectures, API.\n\nFlexibility to deal with changing projects and priorities in a short space of time.\n\nStrong problem-solving skills and ability to learn new methods and processes.\n\nGood analytical troubleshooting skills excellent technical, analytical and communication skills.\n\nSelf-Motivated Individual with the ability to work in a team and on own initiative.\n\nStrong communications skills, with the ability to distil difficult technical concepts into simple and actionable modules.\n\nStrong time-management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple balls, and comfortable working under pressure.\n\nGood understanding of the business capability / user journey, wider organizational goals, and desired product business outcomes.\n\nUnderstanding of both the current Telecommunications and digital services market and emerging business and technology trends\n\nVodafone is committed to attracting, developing and retaining the very best people by offering a motivating and inclusive workplace in which talent is truly recognised and rewarded.
